after my divorce it was a nightmare to find someone, another woman like minded and friendly, gay bar, i wouldnt even be looked at. it was very hard and stressful to understand whats what and what i wanted, how to express myself and be open.

I have the same problem. But when I do find a woman I'm interested in they have this fear that I am going to leave them for a man or I'm continuously asked by them if I think this guy or that guy is cute or some other ridiculous question. It's just crazy. Where are have all the confident women gone? lol

Yes, I know exactly what you mean! Especially when you don't have much time to go out to any lesbian events to meet people and you are only surrounded around straight people lately!

I too have trouble finding women, mostly because I get the stereotypical response of "well, you don't look like a lesbian." What the hell does that mean? I guess because I don't dress like a man, cover myself in rainbow stickers, shave my head & wear combat boots, I don't appear lesbian to others. LOL As far as w/the child in tow, I always get single fathers approaching me and any black man because my daughter is mixed & they think I must have it in for the black guys lol If only they knew, can I get your sister's number instead? lol

The right woman will come along - and she will KNOW. The rest, I wouldn't be so sure about.

Best of luck with that!

No. My advice is to put yourself out there. If there is someone you are interested in let her know.

well..i dont think anyone is goin to see you that way unless you put your self out there in that way..i really dont think people look at me that way either.. but then again what is a "lesbian" supposed to look like..the ONLY way that people see me as a lesbian is because of my girlfriend which by the way is very ungirly!! lol so just throw your self to the wolves so to speak! and have fun and jus be urself!! good luck!

I'm new here, but it's the same with me. I'm only seen as being lesbian when I'm out with other lesbians, but then everyone always assumes the friend I came with is my partner so I'm not available!

Definitely. I have found that if I don't flirt excessively with girls I am interested in, it is assumed I am straight. Of course, I don't always feel like doing that, so it's just easier to go to places where lesbians gather. Even then, though, I am often mistaken for a straight girl with her gay friends. *sigh* I am just determining to be patient and focus on taking care of my kids and myself until the right lady comes along.

I have always had this come up. Even when I was single and without my child, no one ever thought I was gay.(even in gay bars). There isn't much you can do besides strip down naked and paint yourself rainbow. I think meeting women through friends or going online may be your best bet. I am married now, but I have known my wife since middle school. Good luck to you!

I know what you mean too. My own probably thinks I am straight as well. She keeps telling me she has a daddy. It has only just begun.
