Wow..the level of ignorance is just sickening. I cannot believe how uninformed these people are to the point that they don't even known the basic fundamentals of civics and yet they are protesting without even knowing what the hell they are protesting about. They just blindly follow people like Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck further into the depths of stupidity.



It is funny because conservative right wingers claimed FDR was a socialist taking the nation toward a socialists takeover..umm yeah that did not happen. Then they claimed Eisenhower was a socialist yet now they refer to him as one the greatest presidents. Kennedy was called a communist and they claimed he was a pawn of the Russians....umm Bay of Pigs. Many Presidents both Republican and Democrat have been attacked by crazy ass coo coo right wingers lacking any bit of common sense. They have cried fowl on more than one occassion in our history claiming we were on the verge of either fascism, communism, or socialism. If anyone read anything about our history or about what these ideals really mean and if they had even the slightest bit of common sense they would not willingly align themselves with a bunch hateful ignorant crazies.

I don't keep koolaid in my house but my 6 year old daughter is always begging me to buy it. I was thinking perhaps I should I be worried about her begging for Koolaid. Maybe her watching Obama's education speech at school was a bad idea because I think she may have been indoctrinated into becoming a socialist Koolaid drinker. Oh well, instead of attending Tea Parties I guess we will be attending Koolaid Parties. I am so Wicked..I think I just heard the thump from a conservative passing out...hehe.

I have come to the conclusion that We liberals should write the makers of Koolaid and ask if they would like to sponsor us since conservatives keep telling us to stop drinking the Obama koolaid all the time. We might as well become their new spokespeople and starting putting Koolaid logos on all our shit. The sad fact is as I have explained numerous times to many conservatives I don't even ike Koolaid. I drink sweet tea and water damn it.

I just don't understand how you call something a sponteaneous protest made by concerned citizens when it is a sponosor supported event. When did protests and marches start becoming events sponosored by the same exact companies that are lobbying for the passage of bills that screw us all over. When did people start carrying protest signs and banners with sponsor logos on them. When did funding from big business and leaders who are former lobbyists and politicans equate to "freedom" organizations meant to support the peoples rights. Are people this damn stupid or am I living in some parallel fucked up universe where everything is now sponsored by a business or lobbying firm.

I have little more to add to what you all have said, as I agree with you 100%...but, I will tell you that there are businesses in my area who advocate these "tea parties" and advertise their association with and support of them; I'm boycotting all of them!!!

I completely agree with both of you. I wouldn't expect anyone to agree with everything this president proposes, let alone anything congress proposes. I certainly don't agree with everything myself. There are valid arguments to be made for small government. There are valid arguments for being fiscally conservative. However, the republicans in the last 8 years have been neither small government advocates (they claimed absolute, unquestionable authority for the president and vice president for starters), nor fiscally conservative. Quite the contrary. Where were the tea parties then?



The arguments on the right are completely off the wall. They make some new shit up every 5 seconds it seems. And the stuff they make up is so outrageous it's hard to even understand how ANYONE, let alone a whole section of the population could believe it. Like the death panels? Are they serious?? Or the birthers movement. Or comparing Obama's health plan to Hitler "euthanizing" the mentally ill. Or any other comparison to Hitler for that matter. Or the Sotomayor "quote" about forcibly sterilizing all white men to stop their domination. Or the "muslims moving in". Or the "ape in the white house". Or the fears that Obama was going to speak to little kids about abortion and sex and his health care plan during his back-to-school speech. Or the accusations that he wants to kill babies. Or that he's trying to set up a dictatorship. The list goes on and on and on.



I mean honestly. How can any movement or party take itself seriously when they are made up of people like this. And the powers on the right happily create & feed into the insanity instead of trying to stop it or at the very least denouncing it. It's disgusting. And the amount of misinformation is sooooo huge, that it takes all day every day to refute even half of it, so the other half goes unchallenged just because there is no time. And because apparently people don't understand the difference between fact and fiction and have no appreciation for nuance.



And yes, the overwhelming selfishness on the right is also nauseating. It's ALL about what's in it for me. Nothing else matters. And they call themselves the christian party. Words fail me.



During the Reagan and Bush I eras it was possible to just have philosophical differences that could be debated. I just disagreed with the right's views (and actually agreed with some too) but I didn't feel the sense of disgust I feel now. They really have gone off a cliff. Bring back Nixon!!!

Honestly, some of the conversations I have had with conservatives on this site astound me. They are truly the me me me party. They come off as if they don't care about anyone but themselves, and ignore issues that prevent people from trying to help themselves in our society...you know, like people's right to affordable health care! Gimme a break!

I just posted a thread on PDM about the same thing. Why can't people see that there is only one real issue at play here MONEY (and who has it and who controls it). Big business wants the government off their back and will pay alot of money in the form of campaign contributions to their senators and congressmen to make sure that happens. The less accountability, responsibiity and regulation the better for them, but the poor, minorities and the elderly are exploited. So the government steps in and implements policies and programs to protect these people and what happens? Money, power and control shifts. Then these representatives go to the most racist, sexist and ageist parts of the country and instills fear into them. "Government is trying to take over your country", "Illegal aliens will benefit from your sweat and hard work", gradma wil go before a death panel". It's crazy!



Why can't people see that we have LESS freedom, secuirty and protection NOW than we did before. I know that if more people get a slice of the american pie, that there will be less pie for everyone else. But so what? How much does one person need or want? When did we get so greedy?
