Can someone give me an example of what a 12mos. (9mos corrected age) baby should be eating . My daughter doesn't have any teeth yet and I'm always so nervous about what could possibly choke her but I'm also thinking she may not be getting enough nutrition from just her formula anymore b/c she used to drink about 8oz. every 2.5-3hrs but now she'll only drink about 4-5 oz every 3-4 hrs. I would appreciate any suggestions even things i could give her for weight gain. She's going to be 12mos on May 28th and weighs 13lbs. Thx

If she hasn't started on the baby jar foods it might be a good time to start with number 1s, all babies are diffrent, but my daughter really liked the veggie kind and I also found they are a smother texture than fruit (it might take some time for her to get used to because it feels diffrent in there mounth and always wait 3 days or so before starting something new just in case of a allergic reaction) and help with bowl movements if a child is constapated, some fruits like banannas seemed to make it worse, when she startes to get good at that start moving up. I didn't give mine the number 3s untill she had some teeth because some do have lumps in them. If she is already on those it is just a matter of waiting for some teeth to start actual food and she can handle lumpy foods. At that age we gave my daughter baby purees (which we did start early due to bowl problems) she should be able to handle the ones without chunks in it! I am not sure is she is able to try these but we also gave ours biter biscuites which she was able to gum (these are for babies who are around 10 months and can mash lumpier foods, we did give these to her around 9 months corrective) and they also disolve when in the mouth, there is also a ceral type thing that gerber and parent's choice makes that desolve pretty quick too (they say on the box for crawlers and infants that can sit up by them selves, she might be to small for them). These are mostly for learning to eat I think but seemed to be a good start. You can also try mashed potatos (the thinner kind) without milk or butter in them, just make sure that they aren't really think because they will choke on it. You should be able to call your peds and should before you start anything like solids that you aren't not sure of (it wont hurt to call him/her and is alwasy safer if you just don't know), they should also be able to give you good suggestions on what you can start.
