Free workshop activity for children ages 5-12 on the first Saturday of each month from 9AM-12noon. Participants will create a project from a pre-fabricated kit. There is a different project each month.

Louisville Free Public Library Summer Reading Program
Read 10 books between June 1- August 6. List the titles in the Summer Reading folder and return the completed folder to any public library location by August 6. for a free prize pack and to be registered for additional prizes. This program is for children from birth -5th grade. There is also a summer reading program for teens.
Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program
Kids can read and eight books and list them in the Reading Journal. Kids can chose a free book from a list when they turn in their completed Reading Journal at any local Barnes & Noble Book Store. Go to www.barnesandnoble.com/summerreading to download a reading journal.
Half Price Books Summer Reading Program
Read 15 minutes a day and turn in your Reading Ledger for a $5.00 gift card. Visit www.hpb.com for more details.
Crescent Hill Reservoir and Gatehouse Tours
The Crescent Hill Gatehouse will be open for free tours every Wednesday(weather permitting) until September 28. The tour times are 11AM-1PM & 6PM-8PM. Learn about the history of Louisville Water. The facilities are located on Reservoir Avenue, just off Frankfort Avenue.
Frazier History Museum Kids Club
Join the Kids Club for free and kids get free admission to the museum(with a paying adult-$9.50) on the second Saturday of the month. The Second Saturday program will feature crafts, games, activities, and special performances revolving around a selected theme.

Museum of the American Printing House for the Blind
Summer Braille Workshops for kids. Be inspired by the story of Braille. Learn the basics of the Braille alphabet and practice writing on a Braille slate and on a braillewriter. Admission is free, but registration is required. Call 899-2213. The museum is located at 1839 Frankfort Avenue.

Jefferson Memorial Forest
On the last Saturday of every month, the will be free volunteer-led guided hikes. All hikes will begin at 9AM and last approximately 3 hours.
Saturday, June 25- Hike the Mitchell Lake Trail(1.5 miles) while discussing fossils in the area. Meet in the Horine parking lot.
Saturday, July 30- Hike the Red Trail shortcut(3.1 miles) and learn about reptiles and amphibians of the forest. Meet in the Horine parking lot.
Saturday, August 27- Hike the McConnell Trail(5.4 miles) and learn about insect. This hike is more strenuous and may take over 3 hours. Meet in the Paul Yost parking lot and bring snacks.

Saturday, June 4 8AM-1PM- Metro Parks Family Fishing Day at Tom Wallace Lake. Poles, hooks, and bait are provided. There will be fishing instructors, contests, and a free picture with the fish you catch. Ages 17 & under. Registration is required. Call 368-5404.
Saturday, July 9 10AM-2PM- Family Canoe Day at Tom Wallace Lake. Take a canoe out on the lake and spend time on the shore learning about the creatures that live below. Canoes, paddles, and floatation devises will be available. There is a $10.00 canoe rental fee. Registration is required. Call 368-5404.
