My daughter is 5 and is ready to meet the tooth fairy.

Most kids start loosing their teeth between 5 and 6, usually closer to six. My daughter actually started losing her teeth at 4. She will be 6 in Sept and has lost 5 teeth and has 2 more loose and ready to come out any day now. I asked her dentist why she lost so early and he said it was because she got them early. She started teething at 4 months. At 8 months old she had pulled herself up on a chair and chipped her 2 front teeth. Good Luck!

It is different with each child. Ages range from 5-7 yrs for the first tooth to shed. Also, when the child's 'baby' teeth erupt can affect when they will shed, as well. But if you are concerned, have her visit the dentist to make sure things are ok. (A child's first dental visit should be around age 1. Most dentists like to exam the mouth and make sure parents/guardian are taking proper care and can answer any questions there may be.) Good luck and have plenty of quarters ready! Amanda, CDA
