Any AVON selling moms?

I just recently started selling AVON, namely to have a little side cash separate from the bill & grocery money to spoil Kalli-Mae with and to add a little here and there to her savings account I started for her. As it stands, my husband is a great provider but with bills, groceries, an infant, & buying a house piled together at the end of the week there isn't a lot of money to play with.

The problem is, while I have a few customers (repeat), I don't have many or enough really. I'm a a bit of a shy person these days, which I'm working on breaking, but I was wondering what some tips are that you Mommas might have for me to help me get this going stronger.

In the end its all for Kalli-Mae other wise I probably would have already quit or not even started.

Christina, I used to sell when my kids were little and life got in the way and now I'm back. I'm so glad I came back to Avon. I know it's hard to find customers at first though. Have you had a chance to "toss" catalogs or hang them on doors in your neighborhood or to run an ad in the paper? My UL has an ad that keeps running (she's been selling for over 30 years!) and she gives me leads off of that. Ask your regular customers for referrals. Also, if you know any teens that might help, they love the Mark products usually and you could offer them a percentage off or free product ($5 item or so) for helping you toss brochures. My own dd is 15 and she's been a big help but one of her friends offered to help also! They might even want to sign up too, if you want to build a downline!

Hi there,
The first thing is to BELIEVE in yourself, and that you are working for Kalli-Mae. Then you need to love the products, be motivated and excited when speaking to people about them. The more you do it the easier it becomes. I began almost a year ago, as an Independent Consultant with Arbonne international, I started as a consumer and fell in love with the products. I didn't realize it is better to build a team so you can make money faster but knowing and learning is also a great experience to go through... I hope this helped :-)

They do manicures/pedicures but I know she offers OPI nail products but I could talk to her about that still, she offers lots of stuff in her shop from Bed Head Makeup, to a local purse company, local jewelry company.. so I'll definitely mention that to her. If she turns down the hair things I might talk to the other salons too but I'd like to give her a bit more traffic and I know I could show her how to use them as I've learned from AVON too. Plus I know, also, that my Pastor (who buys them) also goes to the same salon I do and would buy. The problem right now is her money is tight or she would have already bought from me anyways. lol

The lady at the salon can be one of your helpers (if she is trustworthy). Make sure to let her know that she is responsible for paying any balance that any of the people she gets order from owes. Make sure to follow up with anyone that you give brochures and samples to. I think offering the Tony hair pieces to the hair salon owner is a good idea. Maybe she can display them for you, so that customers can see them and buy them. If they do manicures and pedicures you can also suggest that they use Footworks and Avon nail polishes exclusively. Or offer them one or two products for them to try before they buy.

I've been doing the courses, when my daughter lets me get away with it. I've gotten a good number of them done actually. The other problem is I'm not sure who I could get as a helper. I have, however, left books, cards, & samples at the 3 salons that are on my street in the business section of town. One of the ladies at the salon I go to keeps meaning to call me but gets side tracked and I can't really side track her at work for it. I'm actually considering talking to the owner of that salon and seeing if she'd be interested in maybe buying the Tony hair thingies haha.

You don't need to offer your helpers much. You can offer them a free gift or a small discount on their orders. Also, you can try to get family and friends that live out of town to order through your website. Have you taken any of the course availabe on the Beauty of Knowledge Training? The are very good and helpful.

I'd never really put a lot of thought into helpers mostly because I really couldn't afford to offer them anything at all. Especially this month, things are little tight. But i'd love any extra advice you might have for me. See this town we live in is very small, under 3k people.

Christina,

I've been with Avon for 4 years now and I enjoy every minute of it. I would suggest you get a couple of helpers. I know I have 2 helpers that are great. My helpers collect, and deliver orders for me. Is just wonderful. Also, ask your friends, family, co-workers, customers for referrals.

If you have any questions or need ideas, please contact me.
