Hi! I know you have seen many different direct sales opportunities posted...I would highly recommend these types of "at-home" business. With the economy instability, it really is the way to go. You are your own boss... you don't have to be worried about someone else approving the way you do work, whether or not you will be "let-go" or fired, or whether you are being paid what you are worth.

I would also recommend going with a consumable product company. You are better of doing consumables, such as nutrition or make-up, because they will be regularly re-ordered. Therefore, once you build your customer base, you will have built your business.

I am a distributor for AdvoCare, which is a world-class nutritional company. We have weight loss products, sports performance products, nutritional product, and wellness products. Of course, I recommend AdvoCare... I wouldn't be a distributor for them if I didn't believe in the company and products. :) There are over 100 professional unpaid endorsers of our company...from musicians and entertainers to pro athletes. Also, with the health crisis going on these days, this company is definitely the way to go! It has more than doubled in sales over the past year, and even though the company has been around for almost 20 years, this year has seen the most growth than EVER before! It is growing...really fast! If you would like to get more information on the company or products, let me know. I would be happy to share!

I am an Author, Fashion Designer and Online Retailer, Blogger and all of these I make money. All of them I do not have to leave the house if I do not want to. But I have an office for my sanity. So 2 days out of the week I go into the store/office to get a little momma time. I have been helping mommies get going with their own business from home.

My websites are active and the traffic is really good enough where my kids can take over when they turn 21 years old.

I am happy and content.

Janelle, if you like playing on the computer, at your leisure, then take a look at Efusjon.com. They have teamed with Facebook to launch a 1st of it's kind social networking campaign. You literally sit at your computer on facebook (as we do already) and share with 3 ppl the biz opportunity. I have enrolled 75 ppl in 14 days and made about $400-. The Facebook launch has not happened yet, but it is due anyday, they expect 30k+ ppl to join in the first week, once the launch happen. BTW, the product is an all natural acai berry drink in a can. It's fabulous, and most of us drink energy drinks anyway. You're not changing your lifestyle or asking someone else to change theirs!!
NO home parties, no meetings, no changing lifestyles, just plain ole fun!!

Hi Janelle,

I sell Premier Desgins jewelry. I strated in October and abosulty LOVE it. I can work around my kids schedule. We make 50% of what we sell at oour show that night, we don't haveto wait for a check, there is no quota to meet, and we have the best hostess plan out there I think. Our hostesses earn 30% of the retail in free jewelry, plus up to 8 half price item and then there are 4 bonus they can earn of $25 each. The average show is $400 so you can go home with $200 that night. Premier treats all of us like royalty, they have some of the best incentives for us. My upline just went on an all expense paid trip to Washington DC and next year they are taking us on a Caribean cruise. If this is something you want to hear more about I would love to talk to you.

Hi Janelle-
My husband and I starting selling on eBay, we opened up a store front on eBay and we were just breaking even with the store. We decided to move on from eBay, we opened our own stand alone e-store. We have all natural alternative therapies, natural cleaners and laundry detergents; we have also just recently added mineral makeup.
I have tried many different direct sales. I sold Avon for 9 years, I was my biggest customer. I sold Creative Memories for 3 years, this was the hardest one to do; if you did not sell $500 worth of products every three months then you were taking money out of your own pockets to purchase product from the company. This was required to stay as an active consultant.
I sold Mary Kay for about 2 years, but when my husband and I decided to open out own store I realized that doing both was just to much. I decided to stop Mary Kay and now all of my customers now purchase mineral makeup from my e-store. You can check it out if you like http://www.newsolutionsforyou.net
If you are thinking of getting your own wholesalers and opening your own e-store, I am hear to try and help you as much as I can.
Oh, my husband and I are also a part of Team National. We truly thought that it was going to be great, it was a bundle to get signed up, we are still paying off our credit card, and alot of our family and friends have no interest in spending that kind of money. We do use the benefits from it though. We are looking at purchasing a new bed and we will more than likely purchase it through Team National.

Hope this helps.

I am a jewelry lady with Premier Designs jewelry.  I get to play in jewelry  and make a better income than my nursing career.  It's easy and fun and women LOVE jewelry!  I am a walking advertisement for my product.  No quotas, no inventory, no deliveries...just a fun girls night out!!  And I also make 50% of everything I sell while working for a company that is biblically based.  I get paid before the company gets paid...that is great too!

Hi Janelle,

How about not having to "sell" anything or convince someone that your product is better than theirs? How about working from the comfort of your home but making money off of what people normally buy...and they buy it from their favorite stores on line? There is a unique business model with a European company that just launched here in the US. They beat out e-bay as the #1 search engine over in Europe within it's first 4 months. This is a shopping site with all new, brand name items and the customer is getting incredible value- up to 90% off of retail. You can get paid for others bidding, shopping or just browsing! This is not an MLM company. You don't need to have parties, meetings or tastings. There are no sales requirements and recruiting others is not necessary to make a substantial income. And the best part is that it is internet driven and produces viral growth...think Facebook!

I have tried other home businesses and found that unless you were lucky enough to get in at the very beginning or really worked the "part-time" job as full time, I wasn't going to make the income I desired for my family. This truly is a real business opportunity. If you'd like to know more, I'd love to chat with you and show you what I am talking about. I can also send you some links and information. There is also has a wonderful fundraising component to this unique business model.

Wishing you luck in your new business venture.

Sincerely,

Tracey Beckwith

I work from home as an Independent Demonstrator for Stampin' Up! I love that it gives me the flexibility to run my business the way I want to. I do several different things to earn an income. I offer in-home workshops and parties. These are fun and really easy to do. I also teach classes, publish cards in magazines (for compensation), sell my cards, do custom scrapbooks and all of my family scrapbooks are perfect for samples, so they are always up to date. The great thing is that people always need more supplies whether it's ink, paper, ribbon or stamps. The quality really surpasses that found in box stores so people keep coming back to learn and buy more.

Janelle,

Hi how are you? I am not sure if this will be for you or not but I would like to share my information with you. I got started with my team and company as just a customer because of my son who under went brain surgery Nov. 2006 and our one main product made such a diffrence in him as well as the whole family I found myself sharing the details with so many people I decided to give the business a shot. Now I was already with another home business that because of his surgery and needing to devote my time to him and not the business in a nut shell kept my money because I wasnt producing. So I really checked this company out for that reason and you can really build a business that you dont have to work all the time and still earn from your hard work that you already put in. Anyway sorry to ramble I will give you my 2 main sites that will give you business info and feel free to get back to me with any questions.

Hi Janelle,

I found something that makes total sense! I work from home without having to sell products, carry inventory, do home parties that pull me away from my family. There is no large investment...(under $30) and every penny is fully refundable!!! That's what really caught my attention. I had lost too much money trying to make money with other companies that weren't getting me anywhere. In this economy, people are buckling down and they're spending money on necessities, and that's what we offer. Necessity products that save people money, and the reorder rate every month for our company is 95%!!! I would love to get in touch with you to give you more information and to see if this is something you'd be interested in. I promise you it will be worth it!

Hi Janelle,

I don't know if you've found what you are looking for yet. I am a Director with The Pampered Chef. With direct sales you get the benefit of setting your own hours. You decide when you want to earn some extra - or to spend more time with the family. It is all up to you.

There are many different choices out there. You need to look carefully into what is right for you. You don't want to sign up for something because THEY want you to. It has to be something what YOU want and what is truly best for you.

What do you enjoy doing? Is there a direct sales company out there that you particularly enjoy their products? Do they have a good warranty? Keep up with technology and trends? What kind of compensation to they offer? What do you get paid and how much do you have to work? Some companies require an inventory. I find it better not to have to worry about that. I prefer to have the products shipped directly to the company. I didn't want to mess with having to reinvest all my money into my business to build up inventory and always worry about having things on hand.

With the economy the way that it is - it is important to look at the necessity. Try to pick something that isn't as much of a luxury. Think about what it is that you can offer the consumer. It should be something you believe in.

Make sure you sign under a leader who will back you and be supportive. It is important that they should match your efforts with their time and attention. Your success should be their priority and not as much theirs.

A short promo on The Pampered Chef is that we earn an average of $100+ per kitchen show. We do hands on demos now so you don't have to stand up in front of people and talk for an hour. Our parties are fun and educational. We recently launched our new economy cooking recipes. In this day and age we're all looking for quick, easy, cheap recipes. Our recipes take around 29 minutes or less and are only about $2 or less a serving! I love being able to teach people how to save time and money. Our products have great guarantee's and are a true investment. New products coming out all the time. Plus when everyone is getting laid off - we all just got raises with our brand new career plan that no one can match! Even the opportunity to earn a car!! I'd love to tell you more if you're interested. Please email me at donatskitchen@gmail.com. I'll answer any questions that you'd like to help you with making the best decision for you to stay at home with your baby. Even if that's not with The Pampered Chef.

Good luck!

Rachel

I work from my home by selling jewelry - www.faithco.net. Email me - ajc@silcom.com and I can explain more. Hi Janelle

there are many types of work you can do from home.  First you need to decide if yu want something you truely do from home or do you want a home based business that you do from home but go out and do parties also. If you are interest in the home based business type of company then I suggest you go to the direct sellers association website (DSA.org) and check out the companies there.  If they are a member of this association then you know they have been checked out and meet a certain critieria.  Look at which of these products excites you, as you must relate to the product and the mission of the company to be successful.

I am a play consultant with a company called SimplyFun.  We offer board games, card games, puppets and puzzles  for ages 2-adult.  We are helping families spend fun quality time together laughing, sharing and creating wondferful memories to last a lifetime.  I encourage you to check out our products at www.janecampagna.simplyfun.com

l'd start by checking out the companies and products that sound interesting to you.  To be able to sell a product like we do in direct sales, you have to have a passion for the product.  Okay, you don't have, but it helps a lot.  I have tried many different direct sales companies and was never able to find one that clicked until I found Usborne books.  I LOVE the books so much that I would share them even if I didn't get paid!  (check out my website at www.ubah.com/j2416)  Feel free to email me about any questions or concerns  that you have.  You have to believe in the rpoduct enough that your enthusiasm will help you talk to people about and sell the product.  Does this make sense?

I also sell things on EBay and Half.com, Ebay's sister site.  I use to have an Ebay store front but have closed it because I was just breaking even.  I will continue to list individual items on Ebay but the store did not work for me.  There are some that do very well with an Ebay store.  I like Half.com as it is similar yet different to Ebay.  With half.com you only sell books, movies, music, and video games.  You list the items and what price you want for them and they stay up until they are sold.  Half.com takes their cut when the item sells but there is no listing fee, this is a big bonus for me as I currently have about 1,000 items listed!  If you have any questions on how to get started feel free to email me at

I also do some secret shopping to bring in a little extra pocket change.  I have not gotten rich doing this but it is fun!  For our anniversary my husband and I were able to go to an upscale restaurant and we will pay only $15 out of pocket when we get reimbursed and paid for the report I filled out.  There are many different comapnies and shops available.  Never pay to become a mystery shopper--those are scams!  You can be a mystery shopper with no experience and no money down.  That's what I did! (Depending on the company you get paid at different times, some pay bimonthly, some once a month, some it has to be the month after you complete the shop read the instructions and information carefully!)  we have been able to do many things together as a family as well as a couple that have been completely or mostly paid for!  Best of all you pick and choose when you wan to do it and how much and which shops you will pick!  Email me if you want more info on this.  marci_ann@hotmail.com

My husband and I also have a couple of blogs that we are trying to make some money off of, so far we have made around $200, not a lot but a little.  If anyone has any tips or ideas to share about this I would love to hear them!!!  Again email me at marci_ann@hotmail.com and I will share with you what we do.  You can see our blogs at:

http://freestuff--online.blogspot.com/

http://save-some-money.blogspot.com/

This one is our family blog--we don't try and make money on this one.  This is just for fun!!!

http://campfirerereflections.blogspot.co...

These next two haven't been updated in a long time, my goal is to update them this week and keep updating weekly all this year!

http://usborne-fun2read.blogspot.com/

http://teachingkids2sew.blogspot.com/

My husband has a couple more that are just his.  If you are interested I can send you those addresses, just email me at marci_ann@hotmail.com

We, my husband and I are also taking a online class about setting up your own websites and making them profittable.  These websites are not ready to go live yet, hopefully by the end of Febrauray they will be live!  If you want info on what company we used just shoot me an email at marci-ann@hotmail.com I really like the company, they are really easy to use, even for me, I am pretty computer illiterate, everything I know I have learned in the last year or so.  They go over step by step how to do it and even go over how to have your site make the most money as possible.  Their whole goal is to help you set up a website from start to finish and have it make you money!  And they really make it easy and give you the confidence you need to try it!

I also write a weekly column for BellaOnline, on Childrens TV.  While the editor position is volunteer, there are many ways that BellaOnline helps you get your name out there and helps you find ways to make money.  After February my goal is to really sit down and go over the best ways to make money with them and optomize on that.  There are always Editor positions open, so feel free to check it out.  Here is my page: http://www.bellaonline.com/misc/joinus/  This will tell you more in depth what we do and how we do it and will give you a list of topics that they are looking for editors for.

I also make a lot of crafts and such and have decided to open an Etsy store.  I don't have any items listed yet, hopefully I will be able to gather them together and get store started by the end of January.  I will be listed under BusyBeesDesigns if you want to go and check it out at the end of the month!

So, as you can see there are so many ideas out there!  You can do so many things if you really want to.  If you are still having a hrad time deciding go to your local library and check out a couple books on home based businesses and find some ideas that you think sound exciting and interetsing and research those.

You will be your own boss, no one to report to.  This makes some people excited and ready to go and it makes others lazy.  You have to do something that you feel good about and that will keep you doing it!

Good luck to you.  Let us know what you decide on so we can all help support you!

I've been working from home as such for the last 4 years. Luckily as a Virgin Vie consultant this means that most of my work i.e. parties etc are outside my own home. I just need to do paperwork etc at home so this makes it a lot easier. Also it means I don't have to find or pay for childcare. I only work when hubby's at home.

The only other thing is you either have to be quite discipined or get childcare if you want to work at home when it's just you and your child.

Hope that helps.

There are lots of opportunities out there, I'd recommend checking out the ones on here that people have posted, I know there's also www.beauticontrol.com for instance. I don't know where you are but I'm in Seattle and around here in the local parenting magazines there are lots of 'opportunity' ads for stuff like this.

There's also passion parties where it's about romance/relationship building/more hardcore type parties for girls nights and bachelorette parties etc. I've been thinking about having one of those for 'fertility' to be funny, (I'm almost through my 7th month in pregnancy #2).

Have fun though!

So far I've only signed up with Arbonne, http://justrelax.myarbonne.com It's really nice products, a bit more expensive than some other options but IMHO it's worth it. Huge range of options out there!

Janelle, I also work from home as an interpreter and I also have a homebased business that is recession proof. I offer very affordable benefits to people because too many people do not have benefits and when there is an emergency, they find themselves in debt and sometimes filing bankruptcy. Visit: www.geesuccess.com to see if you or anyone you know might be able to take advantage of those benefits.

You can e-mail me at christyirwin@pureromance.com or call me at 513-604-7613 for more information. I would love to talk to you about how I make a full time income on part time hours.

Hi,

You could try doing direct sales of Usborne Books especially if you have children. I have a 7 year old boy and a 2 year old girl and have accepted redundancy as I wanted to stay at home with them. My little girl has spent a lot of time in hospital having major surgery so I can pick up the work when it suits me best.

Its a good job as I get to go round wacky warehouses, play barns, nursery groups and can take my 2 year old with me and she really enjoys it to. I also do parties in evenings if asked and I've done a couple of big craft fairs on weekends and took both kids and my mom to help and my son loved it.

If your interested I can send you an information pack if you let me have your address? I've only been doing it 6 months but it suits me just fine and the extra money at Christmas was a real bonus.

You have to pay for a start up pack which is worth approx £150 inclusive of stationary to get your first sales. For January Usborne have offered a credit crunching starter kit at only £19! Direct Sales are really taking off for mom's and people needing to supplement their income. Let me know if your interested. I have a Usborne books group within facebook which you may want to join or take a look at. If you have never seen the books they produce they are amazing, super quality and kids just love them.

Hope whatever you decide to do, it works out for you.

Regards

Joy

I am too a Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics. As Amy said, cosmetics are a consumable prosuct, so once someone becomes a customer, they continue to order regularly. This is what I call "free money" because it takes absolutely No Work! We also do facials, parties, etc. to introduce the products to people. We do teens, men, and women. We also have the highest commission of any direct selling company. You make your own schedule, so whatever you have going on at home or with the kids always comes first. If interested, let me know or visit www.marykay.com/mandyw! Good luck!

HI!

I just started my business and it's going great! I'm a mom of 2 teens and a 2 year old, so my schedule is very, very busy, I'm sure you know what that's like. Unfortunately, I needed to get a second income and my business has provided enough income to help us out in the "recession" we're in.

I haven't made less than $600/mo. and I work about 4 evenings a month...

Want to know what I do?

I'm an independent consultant for the Pampered Chef!

Why is my business going so well during hard economic times?

EVERYONE HAS A KITCHEN!

Ask me, and I'll help you start your own business too!

I also sell Avon, and am proof that you don't have to be in leadership to make decent money. I sell over $20,000 a year and make enough so that it would sustain that of a part time job outside of the house. As Sarah says, it really does sell itself! You do need to have a positive attitude and believe in the product that you're selling. It's wonderful to be able to work around your children's (and husband's!) schedule and do it in your own time!
