How do you find new contacts?

I don't the business you are in but I do a few different things. I am a Director with Scentsy and I have built my 45+ team mostly online using social media efforts. I've paid for classes on social media, etc. and then I pass the info along to my team. I have met so many great people through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc. But if that isn't your thing I also do a monthly drawing for a Warmer and everywhere I go I make an effort to meet new people and just say hi and talk but I ask if they would be interested in getting a warmer for free and enter them into my monthly drawing. I have gotten lots of new contacts that way.

Social Media works great for me in my direct sales business. I have a blog I use to generate new leads and have built a network on Facebook and Twitter. I'm able to share valuable information about my industry/business on my blog and use Facebook and Twitter to connect with and share links and posts to my blogs. I've seen a huge increase in traffic to my website since I've begun using social media to market my business. I encourage everyone to try it.

Hi Crystal, I can tell by your posting that you are with Melaleuca, I am too. I am a D3 and am having the same problem that you are. I have started picking up business cards from other people that have other businesses and I am doing cold calls. There is some really great training on this right now that I can point you to. I never thought I could do cold calls but I am actually enjoying it. I call someone with Scentsy for example and ask them if they are open to other income options and ask if they feel they are making the kind of money they thought they would be making and then ask if I can share with them what I do and at the very least, we can help each other with referrals. I also do some advertising and try to find inexpensive advertising to generate leads. One of the girls on our team came up with an idea to take old t-shirts to wear to the mall, zoo, store, play dates that she took fabric paint and painted her website on the back with something like "I work from home, visit my website"

Hi Crystal,

There are many ways already listed here to meet and build relationships with people. On the internet I believe social media is also a good way but I believe the best way is for you and your team or leadership to start a Coop to get leads. All you do is pool a set amount of resources together and then everyone uses a unique link that rotate advertisement so that leads are evenly distributed. It is one sure way to get leads into your sales funnel and specifically targeted leads. In other words leads that are looking for what you have to offer. This is one way industry producers build large downlines fast on the internet and it does work.

I was having problems getting hostess for my party business, my friends were all to busy no matter what i said they was to busy to help, I was only able to booked 8 partys with friends and all but 2 canceled, out of the 2 one of them only had one person show up, they other had 3 people show up, my sister in law had a lot of out side sales for me however i was un able to get more contacts and was unable to book more partys, that was in march since then i have booked 2 more shows one in june and the otrher in november for thge holiday season. I am a college student as well so i took one of my catalogs tore the pages out and put them in clear page protecters and made a binder to leave sit in the break room at my school with order forms and coupons. I havent done this for very long so i cant tell you what kind of success i am having but its an idea...

Hi Crystal,
where do you live? and what networking company are you involved with? I reckon you do need a "door opener" to get new customers and distributors on board.
I've joined this year a US company which came new to Australia. The products are Health and Beauty and people are really interested. Business building up very fast. Payment started from day one.
It may suit you too or fit to what you're already doing.
Just check it out and let me know. It's really worth while.

Check out some of the industry leaders thru google, facebook, twitter,youtube... see what they're doing. I recommend Dani Johnson (LOTS of free calls to listen to for everything about your business), Diane Hochman (GREAT connector on all the social media sites), Max Steingart (sometimes free stuff... has free webinars and such to at least get you started in how to find your way around myspace and facebook to find connections)... hope these help... mainly just follow the industry leaders... :o)

I like to ask people I don't know what they do for a living to get to know them better. I have just started with FB and am building relationships there. After I get to know some of of my contact there better, I will ask them more about what they do and what's important to them and maybe see if I can fill a need they may have.

hello I agree with all these other woman just spread the word strike up a conversation about it and just let it flow theres also like craigs list advertising you can do go to like some of the local businesses you have in your town and see if they ok you putting some flyers and a catalog put a ad in the paper about your business I have so many ideas that I could keep going and if u would like you can email me at Cantrell_2009@att.net I would love to hear from you thanks

I go by the rule of FRANK: Friends, Relatives, Acquaintances, Neighbors, Kid's friend's parents. This helps when I am helping a new consultant start her business. It seems to work very well. It also will work for you if you go "cold" in your own business.

Everywhere you go, there's people. Talk to them, Ask questions. Compliment them on there shoes or ask what they do for a living, etc.. Get to know your cold market with warming questions.

I like to talk to everyone I come in contact with. I sell beauty products so when I see someone with some interesting jewelry or great makeup or even some skin issues I let them know of the products I have that they can use and their savings compared to store prices. It helps that I have a webstore. I use social networks to get the word out. Just remember, your wealth is in follow up. You can't sit and wait for your phone to ring. Follow up on every contact you meet.

It really depends on what you do. For me, my team has put together some great referral gifts for anyone who sends business my way. If you have a product you could always offer a discount or free item on their next order if they send you their friends and family...
