Get Excited & Stay Excited™!
I do all my online marketing for FREE... I utilize RELATIONSHIP marketing, building relationships with people on social networking sites like Facebook. People only join people or buy from people they know and trust. Find some social sites that are in your niche/ industry. I do some advertising on high trafficked classified sites... I get a lot of local leads as well as other leads in other states if the site allows me to post in other cities. I do meet up with the people who are local and do a video conferencing through my video system I have with those who are out of state.
You have to make that connection with people, identify their "pain" or issue and provide them with a solution. If what you have doesn't provide them a solution, then find someone you network with and refer them to that person. It helps to cultivate the relationship with your new "friends" as well as helping someone out who you network with and 9/10 they will do the same for you.
I hope this helps.

I get good responses on Facebook and Linked-in. My business is more of a word of mouth business. So, if any of my local customers have Facebook or Linked-in I ask them to join me and leave good feedback for me on those sites.....Had a few from Manta as well.
Since I am in energy deregulation I do a lot of person to person marketing that works wonderful:) I would suggest this for any home business owner.....You never know who will be interested in what you have! (You MUST come out of your BOX)

I tried paying for advertising but that didn't work nearly as well as contacting past customers for upgrades/accessories to what they bought. My newsletter earned me $40 sitting on my duff this week in 2 days. Nothing beats reservicing. Craigslist has worked for bookings.

I think people answer in spurts. My family has a home business and we operate soley on word of mouth. We network a lot around town and form strategic alliances with with people that feed our business. Example - we sell health and life insurance so we partner with people that sell p&c and refer clients to one another. What are you currently doing for advertising ?
