HI. Wow, going door to door shows lots of ambition! I've never sold Avon but am experienced in the direct sales arena. What I have found is that when people take off their 'get customer' hat and just put on their 'I enjoy meeting people' hat....seems they have better success finding customers :) Strike up conversations where ever you go. Ask people what they do for a living. Many will return the question. When they do, you can simply say that you are 'new' Avon rep. and looking to increase your customer base. Then DROP the subject or change the subject right away. Ask more questions about them. (Everyone is their own favorite topic) When you are about to leave the situation, simply say " Oh, before I forget, would you happen to know of anyone who might be a good referral for me? Let them either say no or give you a contact. THEN give them your card and tell them you would appreciate any referrals. If you do this enough, you will eventually locate some customers. It's only ONE of many methods but when you're out and about, it pays to be value focused and interested in others first :) They will in turn, be interested in you. Hope this helps.

I've just recently started selling Avon...this is my 3rd campaign. It seems like every campaign I sell has gotten better because of word of mouth basically. I have had only 1 customer online. The rest have been people I work with, go to church with, friends, etc.

IF you haven't already get some busniess cards made up. Either doing themself or getting them done at a print shop. Also get a yard sign letting people know you sale AVON from home with your name and phone number on it along with your online stores web page. Also go to the beauty shops leave books there and check back with them in a few days that's what I did...

Linda internet internet. Mingle every chance you get. Be nice to people every where you go smile. Ask How are you? That opens a convesation then tell that you sell. Always ask is that person would like to make money on the side if planing a vacation if the have children. these are ways to slide in a simple pitch. never dwell on it to lng because then people feel harassed.

I think that one of the best ideas I have been told is to get the catalogs out there. Leave a couple of them everywhere you go. You can leave them in waiting rooms, gas stations, and pretty much any place you can think of. You can also use old catalogs that you haven't gotten out by putting a label on them telling the customer to contact you for a new brochure. There are lots of marketing groups you can find on places like Facebook that have really great tips on how to get your name and info out there. I'm here if you ever want to brain-storm or whatever. Good luck!!

What is with all the people on gere advertising themselves. Someone asked for help, and some people just push their own agenda. I'll tell you how NOT to get customers: by hijacking someone's thread. That's a turn off.

I am a Avon Rep for over 6 years i had a lot of ups & downs but if you are determined you will be successful. Team building is very important when you have a AVON business. For every new person who sign up to become a AVON representative with a 50$ or more order you will receive 25$. Wear a Avon logo item like t-shirt, pin, hat everywhere you go to attract new customers or new team members. All the best!!

Hello! My names Keyosha Holmes and I'm new to Circle Of Moms! I'm too an Avon Sales Representative and have been back with Avon for about 2 months now. My first time selling Avon was back in 2009, didn't go so well for me the first time around, but now this time it's ok. I have a handful of customers, but my goal is to have an abundance of customers. I've read some of the posts on here and found them all very helpful and encouraging, and would love to share any ideas that I come across in the near future!!! My Avon website address is www.youravon.com/keyoshaholmes, and with a $30 order there's free direct shipping.

Hi, you should try everywhere! When I say everywhere, I mean literally everywhere... Grocery stores (go to customer service and ask if there is anyone currently dropping off books, if not ask if you can leave a few) Laundry mats, basically anywhere people are sitting waiting for a short while, the doctors office, always ask permission before just leaving your books.. people need something to read while they wait. Make a flyer online and post it around the neighbor hood. And just re-visit these places every couple weeks with new books.

I have found the best way to get customers is by word-of-mouth...talking to people you know and getting them to talk to people they know. What has helped me get decent size orders is a combination of follow-up calls to customers who ordered most recently and taking advantage of different ways to get new customers. Always have books handy to pass around while you are running daily errands, going to appointments, social events, etc. Definitely learn as much as possible about the products...I found attending sales meetings to be very helpful. Do you work with an upline? A year after I started up with Avon my upline quit and I haven't had one for 8 years. I find that having an upline is nice because you get a lot better sense of direction on where you want to go with your sales. Without one you feel thrown out there some where in left field - hitting or missing. That's how it was for 9 years of selling with no upline. But don't give up no matter what happens because if you love it enough to stick with it, you end up working in a system (one that works for you) and things will start to come together. I was a single mom for 5 years - struggling from check to check...and barely able to sell Avon on the side. But despite how hard it seems at times, you find ways to incorporate it into your daily routine and gain more consistency. Hope you hang in there...if you have any questions I'm happy to help. Good luck!

Linda,

With my business, I market mostly on line by participating in message boards, communities and other forums. It's all about finding out how you can help them solve a problem. You must be knowledgle about the product you are marketing. If someone says they battle dry skin, be ready to educate them about dry skin and how your product can help. Avon has been around for a long time and has a lot of reps so you will have to concentrate on relationship building. People buy from who they trust.

Market Locally

You can order post cards from Vista Print, they have a VIP site where you can get lots of stuff for FREE, just pay the shipping www.vistaprint.com/25

I would get some really great post cards and leave a paper trail where ever you go. Even though I do most of my marketing online, I do take advanage of leaving a paper trail where ever I go. For example: When I go the bank I tape a post card to the ATM machine, when I order something from the drive through I tape one to the box when I place my order, mirrors in bathroom, shopping carts at the grocery store, leaving one at the table when I eat out, etc. That is how I market my business locally. Just leave a paper trail where ever you go.

Hope these tips helps. You may consider another company that does not have so many reps too if you find that most people you tallk to are already buying from a rep. An easy way to check how many Avon reps are in your area, you can go to the Avon website and under find a consultant you can type in your zip code. When I checked my zip code there were 27 reps in my zip code alone. If skin care is your niche you may just look at another skin care/make up company that may not have so many reps in your area. The goal is to be successful, not spinning your wheels. Just a thought. We wish you lots of success!

I am totally new and this is actually my first post. But I am hoping this helps. I go to a diner where a rep leaves her avon books at every table and in the front. People sit there and look through while they are waiting for their food. Maybe if there is a place you frequent often you can make an arrangement like this. Hope this helps!!

I did Avon years ago and it didn't work out for me and my mother but since then I've learned ALOT!

- 1st off dropping off a book or a sample does not work! Make up customer contact cards and use them! On it include name, address, phone number, e-mail, then INTERESTED IN - hosting a party, - receiving discounts and promotions, - becoming a demonstrator. Then have a monthly drawing for an item. When you give out a catalog say "I have a drawing every month. Just fill this out and you could win free product!" Then follow up a couple days later with It was really nice meeting you and a special or a favorite product you think they might like to try. In order to get your customers excited about your product you have to be excited and show it.

- Talk to people 3 ft around you all the time. Just a "How are you?" or "Ready for the holidays?" Just to get them talking. Then after the convo is going mention Avon. Keep books, samples, and contact cards with you at all times. Try to give out 2 catalogs/samples and receive 2 leads every time you go out. Then call them a couple days later "How did your like....?"

- Everyone has heard of Avon and everyone has purchased Avon at one point or another. People can find Avon anywhere but most don't know that they have added alot of new products. When someone asks you about Avon say "Did you know they have .....now?!" Most people don't know. It will get them interested.

- Do a party. Avon does not do parties anymore and I do not know why. It is a GREAT way to get a bunch of sales and leads in just a couple of hours. Find a product line like spa products, hand care, or make up and use it on people at the party. Demonstrating is just showing people how to use something or what it would look/ feel like. Experience is everything if you give everyone at the party an experience you'll get customers.

-- start with a mystery hostess party at your place with everyone you know. Give away tickets for the rewards drawing. 1 for coming, 1 for RSVP, 1 for being on time, 3 for brining a friend, 5 for booking a party, 8 for becoming an avon rep.

- Come up with new ideas. I'm not sure if Avon has party rewards any more but you can come up with your own just make sure it doesn't take alot out of pocket. Make the party fun! Don't sell. Share. Then pass out books. Let each customer experience something 1 on 1 with you.

Find you niche. Something that makes you different from the rest. Highlight one or two personal positive traits. People are more likely to buy from a person than a company so personal presentation is everything.

DON'T EVER SELL BUT ALWAYS SHARE! Good Luck!

Yeah, I am new at AVON too! I have noticed that many people rather buy from you direct than online. I have about 2 online people who buy from me. The rest are direct sales. Your neighbors are your start. Hit up ur friends. Tote your books with you every where always do return calls check up on your AVON customers. Give them free samples. Give them deals from time to time. Do online parties, or events. Just some areas that I have noticed. Pray you have some success. Another thing. Hire people under you! Let them work for you!
