I am trying to get my name out there and promote my business. I am a stay at home and so this is how I contribute to our many monthly bills. I do home chocolate tasting parties and people earn free products! I am also trying to promote our wonderful dessert collection for valentines day. How is the best way to go about promoting myself without spending a ton and being to pushy?! Please help.

Once you get those first few parties booked though you should stay pretty busy by booking parties from parties. Your online presence is still important though to really grow your business. =)

Hi Amanda,
I have a great business tool that will help you retain your customers and increase the referrals you receive. Send Out Cards is a system that will give you an easy way to send out thank you's, nice to meet you, birthday,etc. cards right from your home computer. What I've learned is that appreciation wins over self promotion every time!

Have you also thought of putting a couple different gift baskets together for Valentine's Day and promoting them at businesses where primarily men work? You will take all the guess work out for them and they will be set to give their Valentine some yummy Dove Chocolate. Make sure to include your business card too, and maybe offer a free gift or discount if the recepient comes back for a repeat order, or host a tasting party.

Hi Amanda!
I've found that posting on free ad sites, such as craigslist & merchantcircle, are a good start to getting your business name out there. Google Maps is also an excellent, free, way to list your business and help customers find you. Feet on the street marketing is also good, though you have to step out of your comfort zone & approach people. If you have some type of free sample you can offer along with your business card, and offer it as a "free gift" when you approach people, you'll find most everyone will accept it & you won't feel too pushy. Just get out there & offer what you have... don't worry with a pitch line. Just offer your free gift and be ready when people ask questions... which they will! =)
