Summer is almost upon us, and for those who know what its like to live in So. California (especially the inland empire like myself) know how HOT the summers can get, even at night. Unlike last year where we had AC when my baby was a newborn, this coming year we don't. YIKES! So I am trying to plan ahead... we are planning on moving her crib and stuff downstairs to where it is cooler. However, I am not sure if there is any other tips or ideas we could do for her at night. It stays pretty warm in our house but I am uneasy about leaving a fan on or window open while she sleeps. I am paranoid of her getting sick.... I dunno... maybe I should.. what do you think?

My boy is 7 months old and he sleeps in just a onesie. We also set up a fan in his room to keep it ventilated and cool. He seems to be pretty comfy that way; not a peep out of him all night.

I agree with the only diaper/underwear thing, that's what we do for our 6 month old, I'm also in the IE so I know how it is. We also use just a ceiling fan and she seems comfortable with that.

This will be my baby's first official summer (he is 10 mo old). does it get that hot a night for them?

I think a slightly damp, cool washcloth would be helpful, at least when first putting her down, just rub it across her back or on her forehead to help cool her down. Also, if you do break down and use a fan, try an oscillating one, so it's not directly on her at all times. Good luck!

When its hot all my kids sleep in their diapers/underwear only and it keeps them cool. I am also paranoid about leaving the window open so I wouldn't do that either.
