Christmas tradition's my mother started, now i will do with my family

This will be my first Christmas without my mother (she is Vancouver Wa. and i am in Hungary) , but her traditions will still go on! The day after Thanksgiving is when we get out all the Christmas decor and decorate the entire house, Every Christmas Eve we read "Twas the night before Christmas" and the Christmas story in the bible. Then each person gets to open two presents only, they are always a Christmas ornaments for the tree and Christmas PJ's to wear to bed! This year it will just be the three of us and i will continue her traditions!

traditions are what you remember when your loved ones are not around to share the joy.

We started several traditions in our family at the holidays.

drive around the neighborhood with hot chocolate and homemade cookies looking at Christmas lights, baking cookies with the kids, Christmas Eve picnic in front of the tree, reading Twas the Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve, making a birthday cake for Jesus.

My family when I was growing up never had traditions that we did for the holidays, but me being a first time mom cant help but get started on starting traditions for my family. I plan to decorate the house for Christmas the first week in November and Thanksgiving night turn on the Christmas lights for the first time. And on Christmas Eve, also like you, have a certain story we read together as a family and have special Christmas pajamas. I cant wait for Christmas!

It would be lovely to have family traditions that you can carry on to your own family. Im hoping that any traditions we start for our children will get carried on
