Hello ladies and mothers! How goes it? First, doesn anyone live in Tallahassee, FL?
I was just curious, b/c my bf, is Bahamian. Although his family & mine are both from the Islands, there is still a bit of a difference when raising our son, as I've noticed. DO any of you ladies have a non-Latino hubby and do you two have "conflicts" in certain aspects of raising your child? I try to compromise.....

I have a Norwegian/ Italian boyfriend. So our daughter is half Hispanic and half White. Sometimes his comments just get on my nerves.
Like for instance... We can't tell what color eyes our daughter has yet(she's only 2 mos. old) and he keeps saying that he hopes she has colored eyes like his. And that he thinks she is going to be "Nice and tall" like the women in his family, and how he hopes her hair gets lighter (it's dark brown now) and how he hopes her skin stays light. I feel like just telling him, "why the hell didn't you have a baby with a white girl then?" I'm short (5' 3/4") and I have dark brown hair and brown eyes. I feel like he doesn't think I'm pretty enough for his daughter to look like me. It just really gets to me.
And to top it off, the other day he was talking to the baby, trying to get her to say "dada" which isn't going to work, she's too young, but anyway, he turns to me and asked me, "Your not going to teach her Spanish, are you?" I said no, mostly because I can't speak Spanish well, but I mean, really... He's going to ask me like that? What if I did want her to know Spanish?
I don't want to even think of how raising her is going to be different. Let me know if you find a way to make compromising easy!

HI ROSANNA! MY FIANCE IS AN WHITE AMERICAN MAN. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS. I HAVE A SON BY HIM. I AM HISPANIC AND I AM TEACHING MY CHILDRENS HOW TO SPEAK SPANISH. MY FIANCE ;UNDERSTANDS SPANISH BUT HE DOESNT SPEAK IT AT ALL. HE SAYS LITTLE THINGS. LIKE THE BAD WORKDS LOL. MY FIANCE LOVES HIS LATIN WOMEN. HE HAS A DAUGHTER FROM ANOTHER LATIN GIRL. MY HUBBY DOESNT HAVE ANY PROBLEM AT ALL. I FEEL YOU SHOULD SEAT DOWN WITH HIM AND TALK TO YOUR HUBBY ABOUT HOW YOU'RE FEELING. I FEEL THAT IF HE HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. HE SHOULDNT BE WITH YOU. SORRY TO SAY. BUT THAT'S HOW I FEEL.
