My son is 7 weeks, but has been congested for about a month, when i took him to his doctor he suggested a humidifier and saline drop, but that does not seem to be getting better. I tried giving him manzanilla to clear his air passages and that worked a little, but was wondering if any one else had any other ideas?

my 6 month old son has been congested for a month. I tried the humifider, saline drops, vicks, the Dr. even recommended Zyrtex... I am not a big fan of giving medicine for a baby but i was desperte and tried it. Did not help. Read about onion...cut an onion in half and leave it next to the crib, also giving a little bit of onion juice. Well I tried it and he is getting better, he does not cough, and he is able to breath better.

I think the manzanilla is more for tummy problems. I don't recommend Vick's vapor rub quite yet. Saline (not nasal spray, natural saline spray) and an aspirator (the suction bulb)...but don't suction too often. And the humidifier. I was told to place something to elevate the crib mattress underneath on one side, so that post nasal drip isn't so bad. This I would say for normal runny noses...which there are lots more to come! My little d is 18 months, and first winter and his colds, doctor told me to get used to it, first year in daycare they get average 10-13 colds in the first year! Just make sure their is no cough, plenty of wet diapers (signs of dehydration),no diarrea, fever and the most important sign to read is how your baby seems to be acting in general..

its called nosefrida google it, its a nose mucus draining device, sounds really disgusting but works like a charm, I use it after bath before bedtime and its perfect. It was introduced tome by my pediatrician. Whole foods and target as well as other baby boutiques carry it not expensive either.

A warm bath helps. I use Johnson's baby bath with vicks vapors. It's in a mint green bottle. I helps clear up my children. I hope your little one is feeling better.

when my children are congested I use both saline drops & humidifiers but in addition to that,

i turn on the faucets in the bathroom with only hot water, let the bathroom steam up for a little then i sit with them (clothes off & diaper on) for as long as i can tolerate on the toilet seat... only 5-10 minutes depending on how hot the room is.... it works like a charm..it drains the mucus & helps them breathe soooo much better

u can even bath them afterwards ( change the water temp. and open the door to the br) & just have fun. good luck be well ....lol

Hello, Emilia.

My name is Alina, and wanted to know what else the Dr. has recommended you to do for your 7-week old son? When my grand daughter got really congested a few months ago, we took the Homeopathic approach, which is an alternative to OTC medicines and drugs prescribed by Dr.'s. Visit www.kidswellness.com where you'll find a lot of useful information as well as good remedies for whatever issue you may encounter. The good thing about these herbal supplements is that they can be found in many other places lnot necessarily online. If you have any questions, please feel to reply.

Hope this information helps.

Regards,
Alina

When my daughter got congested, I used to let her sleep in her car seat to allow the nasal post drip drain. The humidifier is also a good idea, I used to put a vick tablet in the water and leave it on overnight to help her breath better. Oh! and I made sure she always had a hat on ( thin kind ones) or had her head covered while she slept.
