Check the allergies, it's true the immune system has lots to do with the how often he'll be sick part, I've had asthma all my life from 9 months, my mother went trough heck and back with me in the 70's and 80's. When I moved out I started by laziness to take 5 vitamins (what I mean by laziness i mean wouldn't go get the rest of my vitaminns so i drank what was there) it was vitamin B12, chromium, C, cod liver oil pills, Echinacea, let me tell you I boosted my immunity times 100 stopped the inhaler, and walk without weezing. so try getting the immune system up and going with childrens vitamins an foods that promote them. try getting a vaporizador and a room air filter for his room if you can.

I agree with many of the ladies. My son was diagonsed w/ asthma at 4 months old he's almost 8 years now. We control his asthma now. Go to the doctor, see an allergist, a pulminologist, whatever specialist you need too. Find out what triggers him, shampoos, cleaning supplies, lotions, even some foods. Either way get control, before its too late. Not being able to breathe is horrifying!!!

Anyone that want's to know how to get safer, effective, affordable "green" consumables for thier home and family let me know. Getting all the toxic chemicals out of your home and replacing them with safer ones with no harsh chemicals will improve your Asthma and allergy symptoms. I am a customer of a health and wellness company and we have the highest quality products in the world. Many people have noticed a significant improvement in thier various conditions. It is my job to share this information with others. I have a son (7 yrs old at the time) who had a compromised immune system in 2005 and was very seriously ill. An everyday virus was allowed to spiral out of control and enter his brain. These household chemicals suppress our immune sytems and a childs immune sytem is not fully developed until age 12. You can e-mail me at ginanews@iglide.net

I had sever asthma as I child, I was taken to a homiopathic docotor. I was given a set of medicines with vitamins and minerals. They were little white sugar pills, with the minerals in them. I loved taking then and had to take 5-10 a day. I was also told to blow balloons to strengthen my lungs. I have been asthma free since I was like 10. Swimming can also help boost the lung capacity.

What are you using for household products like cleaning, shampoo/conditioner? Did you know that Johnsons Baby products have Formaldeyde in them? I would remove all the toxins, chemicals from your home. I work with a Green wellness company and we have many, many people who have converted thier homes to environmentally safe products and they have noticed an improvement in thier childs Asthma as well as other issues. If you would like to know more on this company, let me know. I am alway's happy to help families.

Definetly see an allergist and control the asthma, you also want to change your clean products and your laundry detergent. The products you clean with are alot of the problem too. You want natural products. Stay away from lysol and pinesol and clorox. Avoiding these products and others helped my son. go to www.greenchildmom.fourpointwellness.com for more information. Good luck!

You need to boost his immune system. All medications are only ways to control it on a temporary basis and they are very strong for children. Many have side effects. We have products that will definitely help him. www.go-natural.myshaklee.com

I agree with Sandra...my son is 2 and we've just gotten him started with managing his asthma and he already has shown signs of getting better. He actually goes outside and runs around without wheezing when he comes back in.

Get your son checked out, it's always for the better.

My son is 15 and he as been free of medication for a few years. My advice go to the doctor and manage his asthma with your pediatrician/allergist. I will tell you why I feel so strong about it and you make your own conclusions.

My son asthma started when he was 3, my mother had this thing about the albuterol because it's a steroid, so she would not medicate him. One time, I called the house to check on him, and by then I was pretty good at reading how bad was bad by the amount of cough per sentence or sillables in a word. I drove home like a maniac to find my kid blue, with stomach pains from the non-stop coughin. I was horrified as this poor kid spent so much time that way when the medication was on top of the dresser. I put him on the aerosol machines three times in a row just like I've seen them do it at the hospital, and drove to the ER. When we got to the hospital the medicine had taken effect and he was bouncing off the walls, but he was fine. I would laugh by myself because I figure that people in the ER must had thought what is this woman doing in the ER with this healthy child that was running all over the place. When we got home, I tought him how to medicate himself. I would send him to school with his little machine in the bookbag, and no more teacher wining about whom would medicate or watch him. The teacher will love it as they would tell him it's time for your medicine and he would go to the corner plug himself (the medicine is premesured). I never ever had any problems since he didn't have to depend on anyone to medicate himself. Home made medications may be ok for many things, but leaving your child oxygen deprived just because you or a caregiver doesn't trust the medicine doesn't seem sensible to me, and some children do outgrow it. I also had him tested for allergies, gave him a series of allergy shots, and controlled his environment for triggers rather then messing with his asthma medicine. My advise understand the illness, and learn to manage it kids are very resilient, and they get used to the rutine.
