White and Hispanic

I am white with dark blond hair and blue eyes and my husband was Latino from Ecuador. He had the really dark hair with the darker tanned skin and brown eyes. Sofia's skin color is pretty light and her hair is almost the same color as mine with lighter brown eyes. She's beautiful though, and gets an amazing tan in the summer :-)

I am white and my fiance is hispanic and my daughter came out with bright red hair and brown eyes with pale skin. My other two kids who are from my ex-husband who was also hispanic are olive complexion with brown hair and brown eyes! Go figure!?

I am white european with blue eyes, brown hair. My husband is Latin black here, olive skin and black eyes. My son turned out with green eyes and black hair and olive skin. My daughter turned out with hazel brown eyes, light brown hair and olive skin. They don't look anything like me! But they are an interesting mix and easy to spot in the park as most kids where I live are very fair.

I have 3 daughters that are a Cuban & white mut mix. My fiance is Cuban but our daughters look white. Well the youngest is only 3 weeks so it's hard to tell with her atm. Our oldest was born with red hair & blue eyes but now has sandy blonde hair & hazel eyes, our 1 year old was born with light brown hair & blue eyes but after a year her hair is dark brown & she has brown eyes. Now our NB has almost black hair & dark brown eyes with a tan so we are hoping she will stay that way. It's not uncommon for mixed couples to have kids with lighter hair & skin then their own. It's all in the genes.

It is a beautiful thing genetics. My oldest skin is getting darker as he is getting older, he has amber eyes, thick medium brown hair, and olive skin. The 2nd has hazel green eyes, thick black hair and is light skin color. My 3rd, our daughter, has the thin curly light brown hair with strong red highlights, black black eyes and is whiter then her brothers. Im pregnant with my 4th and so we will have to see what the genetics wheel spins for us this time. Im brazilian/caucasian

and my husband is mexican, we both have medium olive skin, dark brown eyes, and black hair...but look at the mix we have!

My daughter Mandy is the samein some ways. I have a lot of british in me and her father is from Venezuela, she looks caucasian, but she tans really well and has dark brown hair.

Latinos are very diverse... depends of the country the mix could be very different, some countries did not have slavery and for that, their does not have a big mix with africans. In other countries Indias where exterminated and people is white, in others, people is the result of a mix between Indians, African and Europeans. I am from Venezuela, part of my grandparents came from Spain but the other part is a total mix of white, black and Indians. My husband is from Chile but his mother`s family came from Germany and his father looks like indian. My husband is blond with green eyes. I am white with brown hair and eyes. You can not say only for the physical appearance if our family is from one place or another. In our countries we do not talk about races, we are a mix.

All three of mine look like their dad: dark eyes, hair and skin. When my son was a day old, I was in the bathroom and a new nurse came in to check on him. My husband was there with the baby, and the nurse checked him over quickly (he had a hard time maintaining his body temp) and then began to tell my husband . . . "I'm a little worried, he is so pale . . . " but she trailed off as I walked back into the room. She laughed and said "oh, mommy is white . . . nevermind." I cracked up. Now he is just as dark as his sisters and they all tan wonderfully. Me, I burn, then peel, then I'm white again. lol My oldest even called me and my parents "pink people" and said we turn cool colors, while she is always brown.

I Have blonde hair, blue eyes and have fair complexion unless i have been tanning in the summer. My husband is from Peru and has black hair, brown eyes but his skin seems to be on the lighter side not really brown but not as fair as mine of course. Our baby Gabriella is now 6 months and has caramel colored hair and my blue eyes and fair skin. When people find out what her last name is they always say " is her father Latino/Hispanic?" I have learned to just bite my tongue to those who don't believe me LOL

To the op of this group, as another poster stated Hispanic isn't a race. It is an ethnic/cultural definition and there isn't a specific way to look Hispanic. In Puerto Rico, a lot of people are mestizo which means they have European and Indigenous ancestry and there also mulatto Hispanics in Puerto Rico which are people of European and African ancestry.



Not all mestizo Hispanics have dark features.



"Typical latin tan colored skin" is a false statement because there aren't any specific Hispanic looks or features. Not everyone Hispanic person is tan.

whoever posted above about Hispanic not being a race.... I never said it was nor do I see where anyone else posted as such. You seemed pretty aggressive with that statement so I wanted to clarify that for you. No one is stating that "Hispanic" is a race. We are merely commenting on the different physical characteristics expressed when people of different cultures have children together. Since I have a child from two different ethnicities, I am interested to hear from other people with similar situations/backgrounds. Skin color does not determine race or ethnicity, by the way:)

Hispanic is not a race! It does not exist! I was born in Cuba, but both of my grandparent are from Spain. I am white with dark hair and brown eyes. It does not make me yellow, brown or black. I am white caucasian! Most ppl mistake races. If your bb's daddy has white skin, it means he is white.

I am mexican and my husband is white, my son and daughter don't look anything like me, I have black hair and brown eyes. Both of my kids have blue eyes are very white they don't look like they have any mexican in them.

both of my boys are like that. i am white and myhusband is mexican with the dark hair, skin and eyes. both of our boys have my color skin. the oldest has a medium color hair and light brown eyes. our youngest has a lighter color hair and greyish color eyes. i have blue eyes and my natural hair color is blond. i thnk it just has to do with hoe strong the genes are.

I have a mixed daughter that has her Daddy's White skin and Light blue eyes and My dark Brown hair.
Iam Cuban,Mexican and Italian,and my Boyfriend is 100% Scandinavian...I was completley suprised when she was born how light she was and that she had her Daddy's beautiful blue eyes...I thought she was gonna have all my dark features as far as eye color and hair goes,I actually was hoping she would have blue eyes and dark hair! LOL! I guess I got what I wanted and I didnt even have to go to burger King!

yea, I have heard a lot of cases where a red haired parent can strongly influence the hair color of the children. Even though red hair is technically the most recessive of all hair colors, it seems to express dominance or at least partial dominance(red highlights) in a lot of cases. I have natural red hair (not orange true red) and my son had reddish hightlights until he went sandy blond at about 10 months old. I guess I just always expected black or darker brown hair would always superceed blond or red but I see now more and more that it doesn't. Or at least during childhood.

My daughter is gets dominican and puerto rican from my side. Im darker skinned and her dady is polish, swedish, dutch, a little irish and some puertorican from his dad's side and native american (black foot)


Our daughter looks Asian sometimes. lol
She has an all yea round tan but its lighter in winter. her roots are blonde and she has naturel blonde highlights in the summer.

My son has red hair like his daddy. While my daughter has my olive complexion with red highlight in her dark brown hair. Remember that several genetic factors determine hair color and skin color any combination can be unexpected.

Correction, it's latino/hispanic not Spanish. Spanish people are from Spain. My kids are half Mexican and white. My daughter came out really fair with blue eyes. My son on the other hand came out dark with black hair and really dark eyes. I am very light and so is DH so it came as a complete surprise to me how dark my son came out. It's in my genes somewhere.

Lol , my Son is just White ,,, He is really light skin with Green eyes and you can not tell he is Spanish , because my daugther is Brown completed Latinamerica Girl, dark hair and dark eyes , is really funny how the kids just totally diferents and they coming from the same parents, I'm Venezuelan and daddy is Mexican

Yes, I do hope to incorporate both cultures into my son's upbringing as much as possible. I think it is important for people, mixed or not, to understand and celebrate thier roots. His dad is not around that much these days, so I am kind of on my own a lot but I am trying to make the best of it.... Hopefully, that will change soon..:)

Shana, The most important thing is to bring both Cultures & Heritage together. Your children will learn to be tolerant of others and able to mingle with everyone. They will be very enriched and more open minded. They will have the best of Both Worlds.

I am half Caucasian and half Mexican-American. My husband is too! Our twins take after me (light brown hair & fair complexion) with my husband's brown eyes. There are some difficulties with being mixed but we are cute que no? :P jeje

That's how it is...my Husband is Puerto Rican and looks like a white boy and loves Rock. I on the other hand look like the Taino Indian from Puerto Rico but our oldest looks Colombian. That's what mixed is all about. Puerto Ricans come in all colors just like Irish. I once met a Red head with cat green eyes...Puerto Rican.

am dominicana and my hubby is white and my son came out looking white with dark brown reddish hair and now he is still white with light brown hair with abit of blondish and reddish and hazel eyes that turn hazel green/blue/brown..i have dark brown hair and coffee brown eyes and hubby has light brown hair with blue that turn green eyes n his goatee has blondish and reddish hair.

Yea, it is true that Latin genes encompass a lot of different physical characteristics! From my experience with this, thus far, most Latinos are really not shocked by the blond hair and blue eyes as they understand this happens a lot in their culture. It is usually white people who are more shocked. lol.. I guess that makes sense, as most in my area of the world haven't had the exposure to the Latino melting pot.

My daughter looks like the both of us...pale white skin (actually my white husband is darker than me. lol) and dark brown hair with brown eyes. People think we are a white family because my features arent "mexican" and we are pale. my daughter actually looked darker as a newborn and then got lighter as she got older. she's 17 months now. We were stumped on how she would turn out...my SILs are tan with blondish hair and another has reddish brown and all have hazel or green eyes. My fiance has hazel eyes and I have mexican people in my family with freckles...we are so mixed, my daughter could have came out with a bunch of different features. lol

I thought the same thing - I am Mexican and Dad is white. I expected my kids to come out with olive skin and dark hair esp. since he has dark hair too. If you can see my profile picture, both of my kids are light. My daughter used to get picked on by the Mexican girls in her PE class during middle school. They had no idea she was half Mexican. But, both of my kids tan nicely and have nice full heads of hair! A few generations from now, everyone will be one big mixture! Maybe then some of the discrimination will stop.
