My daughter is only 25 lbs. She eats her meals and has snacks. She is so tiny. But she is very active and never naps (hasn't in a long time). I am just curious what the average weight is of toddlers the same age and advice on how I can get her to gain weight in a healthy way.

By son was only 4.6lbs when he was born. My son is 24.8 now. He actually went to the doctor today. He is just now in the 3rd percentile. My peditrician is not worried about him becasue he has slowing been gaining. I get paranoid sometimes but he said as long as he is steadily gaining then not to worry.

by the way My son (unless he is in my bed) will not sleep through the night. and never has. And he barley takes a nap. His naps are maybe 30 min

My little girl weighs 30lbs. She is in the 55 percentile in weight and 75 in height. She eats anything. She eats a lot of veggies, but I try to cut down on the fruit she eats due to all the sugars. She drinks mostly water or sparklng water, but I do let her have some apple juice on occassion or a soft drink. If your daughter has a good appetite then I wouldn't worry about it. You need to maintain a healthy diet for her and unless the doctor has issues with her weight just let her be. Some kids just have smaller frames. My daughter does take a 2 1/2 hour nap still, but i know a lot of kids her age that don't. They usually just go to bed earlier. My daughter stays up until 8:30 or 9.

I'm not sure what the average weight is, but that would probably be a great question for your pediatrician. Weight percentile is a more important measure of growth than average weight.

For example, my son is in the 10th percentile for weight, meaning that 90% of toddlers weigh more than he does. This would be alarming, but I know that he has always been 10th percentile, so that means he has been gaining weight at a consistent rate since birth.

As long as your daughter has remained in the same percentage since birth (with the exception of growth-spurts) than I don't think you need to worry about her weight.

My daughter is the same way. She has always been in the 5 precent. Some kids are just built smaller than others.

Don't fret. It's all in your family history I bet. My daughter borm March 9, 2007 only weighs 23 lbs and is 34 " tall. Not sure if your daughter is taller or not so see my daughter weights less and I am not worried! She has not been on a chart for weight since 6 months but she is growing on her own curve so to speak. She is healthy, active and very smart. I would not worry unless your doctor tell you to worry and since she is developmentally fine I don't think there is a reason. Do you know how much you weighed at that age. I found my baby health records from Europe and it turns out I was about the same weight as my daugher most of the time so it may be genetic and you might not even know it....

My daughter will be 3 on 3/24, she was 28lbs on her last dr's visit. Her weight has been consistent throughout, so I would say 28lbs is average for her. I wouldn't go by what other children their age weigh, but base it on your child's progress.

My little boy is 32 lbs and 36 inches tall. He is tall and skinny. I think as long as they eat well, the numbers don't matter so much..they all come in different shapes and sizes

My son is 2 y, 7m and he weighs 33 lbs (at home scale). He's very active and is very strong!! He's skinny so I assume maybe some is muscle already (see it in his calves)?? He takes 2-3 naps and sleeps all night (8:30-6:30). Toddlers their age can really eat anything as long as they are active. I don't let my son have sweets or sugar but on rare occasions. He doesn't eat meat, so I am always trying new things.

My son is also only 25 lbs. and in the 10th percentile for his age. I am fine with that as is his pediatrician because both his father and I are on the smaller side. This is definitely a question for you pediatrician to answer

okay i guess i gave birth to the chucnky child.. my daughter will be 3 om March 15th.. She weighs 33 lbs.. She has always been in the 97th percentile.. At her 2 year check she was for height in the 100th.. lol But she is now REALLY active.. I look at her and get sad cause she is so thin now.. She is down to only one roll on her thighs compared to 5.. lol her doc says she is perfect.. WIC said she is headed toward obesity.. I do not worry.. my first daughter has always been totally tiny. Always in the 10th percentile.. I would not worry about making her gain weight if the doc has not suggestd it. It is very hard. I have been working on making my 8 year old gain weight. It is much harder than you would think..
