I'm right there with you Teresa. My son cannot un bukle humself he just wiggles out of the straps. He would get out and stand up while I was driving. I tried spanking, scolding, yelling. and no matter what he kept on.
So one time we went to the park and he got out of the seat, I made him sit in the carseat and watch the other children(I was babysitting) play. He screamed and threw a fit. Then I tightened it when he wasn't around, and he's been fine ever since. I even had to recently get a new carseat because his expired and he's been doing well so far.

good luck

What kind of carseat are you using ?

She should nto be able to get out of a harnessing carseat. Even if she could get her arms out she should not be able to get the crotch buckle undone.

Im not being mean or anything here but if you have her in a booster and are using the cars seatbelt, that is a BIG No No ! That is very dangerous no only because its easy for her to get out but also because she is still too small for it.

Have you tried car toys ? Play games ?

We play I Spy or have toys that they only get to play with in the car so they dont get bored with them.

There is a product called Houdini Stop that attach's to any car seat strap or push chair and they can't get their arms out. I also have pretended to call the police to come and tell them off, just get on the cell phone and tell the kid to listen for sirens!
