My Mom of the year nomination just got shredded!!

Had to take Patrick to Oral Surgeon yesterday - we saw something strange on his front teeth - well it seems that something strange is a break or wear-

She looked at all of his teeth (please keep in mind I don*t give him juice - he eats his fruits and veggies) and FOUR of them have to come OUT -

My Mom is in FL on vacation and I can*t FREAK OUT in front of my little ones - so I am feeling like the worst Mom in the world (even thought the doc said this isn*t a *fault* thing, I think she HAS to say that!!) My Little Boy has to have surgery on his 2nd Birthday - I*m havign trouble keeping it together - tearing up as I type.

I don*t have anyone I can talk to - what would they say anyway? You are not a rotten mom??? Well that can*t be true or my little boy wouldn*t have to spend his 2nd birthday in an operating room!!!!!!

Sorry to DUMP - but I had to let some of this out!!

I KNOW he will be OK - and I know I am an OK Mom - but right now it doesn*t feel like it - one of my friends asked last night if I wanted a Hug - I said, thanks no, I*ll start crying too much

A similar thing happened with us. We went in for our 18 month well check and our pediatrician mentioned his tooth was chipped. It had always been like that, so we assumed it was just crooked! We felt like a couple of dolts. We took him to a pediatric dentist and we were going to get a crown on it (who knew they even did that) but the tooth was already dead so the best option was to pull it so it didn't get infected. It was only one tooth but I kind of freaked out too. I had a long talk with the dentist and my pediatrician and they calmed my fears. I had a tough time in the room with him though...poor thing. We're pretty sure he chipped it from a fall. He's a handful.

I will say I'm glad we did it as he was starting to not want to bite into things. I think his tooth was hurting him as he would whine and point to it. I agree with your doc, it really isn't your fault. Your little Patrick might have taken a spill too, like all toddlers do, and the teeth are so small it's hard to notice a chip sometimes.

And I'm going to say it anyway but you are not a rotten mom! You noticed something was off and you are taking care of it! That's what good moms do!!
