Both my daughters started preschool when they were 3, my oldest is now 5 and is doing far better than others in her kindergarten class. My middle just started 3 year old preschool in August and can already write her name! How many of you put your children in 3 year old preschool and what was your reason for doing this or not doing this.

I put my son in preschool because he was ready and he wanted to go. Though I wasn't ready to let him go we enrolled him two 1/2 days a week. I had no academic goals. I only wanted him to get used to the school routine and socializing. He enjoys it and has been doing well. Plus, I get to spend the time running errands and hanging out with my little one.

My daughter started preschool 2 months b4 her 3rd birthday, she's now nearly 4! She absoutley loves it! My reason's for putting her in was because wen she started in the January, I was due my 2nd baby in the April & wanted her 2 be settled before a new baby got in between her routine. She goes 5 days a week, 8:45 til 11:45am, she started off not liking it but she got used to the idea of having a couple hours to herself 2 play wiv her friends and knew mummy would come back & get her. She started full time school in September & she's really excited :)

My daughter 3.5 yrs old. She has been going to daycare since she was 6 wks old. This fall she started Head Start and she loves. I feel that whether it's Daycare, Head Start or Preschool it's all beneficial to the child, They learn so many different things by attending places like this.

my daughter started preschool this year. she needs the interaction. gets bored at home and it is very stimulating to her. She goes to preschool at our church so she is learning about God as well which is an added bonus. It was so cute to here her say prayer at Thanksgiving this year. I think it's good for them at 3 to get out for half a day to interact with other children in a learning environment. My son is 7 and had 2 years of preschool....4 and 5 years old. He just wasn't socially ready at 5 to go to K. I think 2 years of preschool is helpful to make sure that they are academicaly and socialy ready for K.

My daughter started a moms day out program last year at age 2 and is now in preschool and moms day out. My daughter has always been miserable at home. When she was 5 months old, she used to cry 24/7 and it turned out she was just bored and wanted to constantly see, do and learn new things. To this day, she constantly asks to go out and do new things. She also does gymnastics, dance, science classes, and I'm in three moms groups that have playdates to go to quite often. And yesterday, she asked if she can go to another school because she's "tired of being home all the time".

I too put my daughter in at 3 years old and it was because I thought she needed more soclialization because I am a SAHM. She had a rough couple of months to start but loves it now!
