My son is such a picky eater and it is stressing me out! He loves oatmeal and pbj sandwiches, but I feel like he should be eating more veggies and fruits, but it's impossible! I am still breatfeeding too. does antone have any ideas, suggestions or advice?

We sat everyone down as often as possible to eat together and try to eat pretty much the same thing. I had most of my meals cold in the beginning as I was spoon feeding Isobel, but now she feeds herself. She started out with the blander foods but started to want to see the adult plates and was grabbing things off our plates when she could. Now she eats what we eat (within reason). But she has Shreddies every morning, if she hasn't has Shreddies she hasn't had breakfast. I figured after a year eating the same thing every morning she'd be bored of it, but no, she still loves them. We go through some days when she still looks at what's on her plate and just pushes it away so we always have a few quick fix ideas like yoghurt, rice pudding, noodles (they're great I agree with Sherrie). Other days she eats nothing and some she never stops. There's most definitely phases (my 5 year old still has them too). The main thing is, is to not get stressed cos they love to wind you up. As long as he's growing and he'll be getting his vitamins and minerals from you right now by breast feeding, keep meal times fun even if they're messy and you think his diet is boring. Good luck.

My daughter is 18 months old, too. She loves her fruit and creme oatmeal in the morning, and sometimes she too was going through a stage where she was being a little picky eater. I find it worst when she has teeth ready to break through the gum. I tried feeding her little pieces of chicken, etc., however she has more gums than teeth and couldn't properly chew up the food. I still feed her baby food stage 3 fruits and vegetables. You could try offering applesauce, mash potatoes and gravy, stuffing and gravy, square pkgs of oodles and noodles (which is nice cause you can break it up while it's still in the pack). I know it can be very stressful, I made three different things one night for dinner for her, and she barely ate. So I would try a little later to feed her. I hope this helps you.. All you can do is keep trying..
