Any tips for helping my 8 month old with his stuffy nose? He is having a very hard time sleeping due to his severely stuffed nose.

I usually put a pillow under the mattress to prop them up, unfortunately my first always ended up with her feet on the propped up area. Dehumidifier.

I have found that using a Vicks Warm Steam Vaporizer unit in his room during the night helps my son sleep. I have also used Fess 'little noses' which are saline nose drops for newborns and babies. He doesn't like me using the drops, but it works clearing nasal congestion and loosens and thins nasal mucus.

Oh no! Poor little guy! I hope he's feeling better soon for not only his sake but yours! Having a sick baby is just miserable for the whole family - and no, never feel silly about worrying over a cold! I just was about going nuts with Dylan's cold a couple weeks ago!

Just wanted to update, Keegan has an ear infection in both ears and a chest cold now. Hopefully with the meds he'll be feeling better soon. Thanks again for all the advice :)

I know they make a decongestant spray under that Little Noses brand but I don't know if you can use it on a baby. Maybe call the pediatrician and see if they think that is ok? You'd find it right by the other Little Noses brand saline sprays.

yes we have tried to suction his nose but he's not very cooperative and we don't seem to be getting enough out to help him. Poor thing is so stuffed that he has started not wanting to eat due to the fact that he has to breathe through his mouth.

We used the saline drops and had good luck - are you suctioning his nose out afterwards??

Definitely put a pillow under one end of the mattress, that will prop him up at night.

I hope something works - a cold is no fun. My little guy just got over his first one a couple of weeks ago.

Try clearing him up with some steam. Run the hot water in the bathroom and steam it up and sit in there with him for a few minutes. You can also get a steam vaporizer for his room, they're not expensive. I usually let it run when he goes to bed and shut it off before I go to bed.

Very lucky boy! My sons only had a stuffy nose a few times, they must be toughies :)

thanks, I've been using saline drops but they haven't seemed to help much. I guess I can't complain this is the first time he's got sick.

He is old enough to use nasal drops/spray that might help, or i found a soothing ointment to rub on my sons chest worked well sometimes. I also would try and sleep him propped up a bit so that he wasn't laying flat if his nose was really blocked. Good luck :)
