Hi!

My daughter Kaily will be turning 1 in march! But, ive been thinking of her first bday for months now lol. I think what we're gonna do is have a princess party. I found this bakery by me that makes beautiful princess cakes, they kinda resemble wedding cakes! But i figure her first bday should be special and since she doesnt have any friends yet, i want to give her a amazing princess cake. They have such cute decorations for a princess party too. So i think that's what im gonna do. Good luck :)

My little guy will be 1 on March 26...Party at the Park! We have such a large extended family that we will need the space. I have great connections at or local cullinary school, so they will be making the party their spring project! (nothing like cheap, great food!) He loves Penguins of Madagascar, so everything will be Penguin themed (black and white) and not pastel- an issue that Easter brings since it's that next weekend. We are having a book reqest party...Rather than cards,we would love if guests will sign the inside of a book and gift it to him rather than a card that he won't rmember. There'sa catchy poem that I found that mentions this that will be printed in the invites. (which I will pint myself to save money!)

Charlie is turning 1 on March 17.........yes he's a St. Patty's day baby. We are planning a party in the park. Theme will be cupcakes. Instead of cake everyone will have a cupcake. I'm doing it in the park instead of at home beside we have a lot more adults then kids. And at the park they have slides, sings, see-saws etc. I bought computer paper from Dollar tree that has a big cupcake in the center and i'll print out invites on them. On the invites i'm going to make a note NO TOYS ONLY GIFTCARDS, only because its at the park and 1 year old in my experience don't like to be tied down for a while (Charlie is my third boy) Another reason is that Christmas is only 3 months before is b-day. that way with gift cards i can get what he really needs and not what people think is really cute. Food i haven't really thought of as of yet. Decorations i will do balloons of all colors and different colored plates, napkins and cups............

Who do you invite ????? Tiaan will 1 year old on 17 March. I have LOTS of friends with children. ages 2 months - 5 years old AND Tiaan is 'n small playgroup of 6 babies AND our antenatal class still have get togethers which is another 10 babies. I can't invite them all and really don't know what to do. We will go with 'n Noddy theme because I just love him. I really don't know what to do about the guestlist.

:D Just got the Happy Feet theme in my head and loved it. The first birthday cake usually comes w/ the price of a reg sized cake, but good luck. I'm sure you'll do great. :D

Thanks Erica! I'm gonna go by some of my local grocery stores to see if they do 1st birthday cakes for free. That would be nice! Happy planning girlie :-) Sounds like you have it all thought out :-) I'm soooo excited too!

I love penguins. My baby shower wuz penguin themed. I'm plannin' to do a Happy Feet theme. The grocery stores here make cakes and a baby cake for free for first birthdays. Maybe they did that in other locations too. :D I'm tryin' to be able to make my own penguin cake, but I dunno if that's gunna happen. We are havin' it at my mother in law's. Her house is huge. Not sure about goodie bags, it's a maybe. Also, Tyshanta, you can have a BBQ theme whether inside or not. You can do hamburgers and hot dogs inside also. Hope this helps. I'm sooo exicted for my son's 1st birthday and it seems to be comin' soooo fast! :D

Hi!

My sister in law calls my daughter "Ducky" so for her 1st bday, we are doing a duck themed party :)

in the goody bags, theres gonna be rubber duckies with the #1 on it, and a small size bubble bath and a bunch of other goodies. her cake is gonna be a 3D duck with blue cupcakes around the base to represent the water :-)

So maybe if ur daughter has any nicknames, u may want to build her party around that?

I am thinking about that right now too. My son will be 1 March 3rd. I am planning on a big cake for all of the family and his own cake for him to tear up! Not sure on theme yet, he loves Chicka from the Sprout Sunny Side up show, so I'm thinking somewhere along those lines.

Leanne that's a great idea about the cake and icing and something that I didn't consider. Now that I think about it, I really don't want my little one have have sugar shock either! lol... I will definitely have to choose the cake and icing carefully :-) A BBQ sounds great too, but I'm sure the weather won't permit us to have any outdoor activities :-(

For my son's first birthday we are ordering decorations from Oriental Trading Company as well, they are great. We are going with a dinosaur themed party.

For my son's cake im making him a carrot cake with a cream cheese icing. I figure that would be best so he doesn't get to much of a sugar shock! haha
Then there will be another cake for everyone else...

We are having it at home with family and close friends. For food it will be your basic BBQ and hopefully some healthy party snacks (I can dream!).

We wont be doing any party games or gift bags.. The only other kid coming is only six months older than our son (and his cousin), so they can just play with some toys. :P

We just got one of the little round cakes from the grocery store. If you have a ACME near you they used to give a first birthday cake for free. Not sure if they still do since my middle guy is almost 6 now. lol

Wow thanks Ashley! I also went to the website you provided and they had lots of tips, ideas, and so many themes to choose from. I'm gonna try not to get myself overwhelmed with all this planning because it's so much out there. I want it all! lol... I am definitely looking foward to planning this party after the holidays. So much to choose from. So much to do in so little time.

Good idea Betsy! Didn't think of two cakes. I'm sure that will be necessary for my little one too because she loves to dig her hands in other peoples food. Especially cake, so to have a cake that is strictly hers would be good. Where did you get the cake for the baby or do you bake it yourself?

Well I've also started planning my little guys 1st birthday party.I'll be hosting it @ home as well...a few ideas I came up with and found on this website:

I thought of some activities such as facepainting,sing along (a few of your childs favourite songs would be a good idea ex. old macdonald had a farm,the wheels on the bus etc...) rubber duckies in a tub with #'s on the bottom which would correspond to a gift bag which you can make up...also an arts and crafts station perhaps to create a custom made birthday card for your little one...and I was thinking of having some friends or my nieces and nephew (8,11,13) help run some of the stations...I mean most children @ the party will be 2 or under so if you have older children attending I guess u can find other age appropriate games to play...Hope these ideas helped a bit :)

Lucas is our 3rd child. We always do the first birthday at home. We also get a big birthday cake and then a little one just for baby. First birthday cake pics are the greatest!! We have done a pinata for the bigger kids at the other birthdays and if it's warm enough we will probably do that again.

It's defiantely an exciting time, first birthdays! I have a little girl who will be one on March 2nd, but she is my second...I have a son who was 2 in September. For his first birthday I did lots of planning a few months ahead as well, a good idea if you want something really special! I would suggest checking out "Oriental Trading Company" online, they have TONS of really cool themed party stuff that you can order on their site, and have it delivered to your house. For my sons party we ordered a jungle theme, and it was very cute!! My mom is a cake decorator, so she made a cake to match (any bakery could do this too). We held the party at my dad's house as they have more room than us, so it can help if you know someone with a big enough place to do it so you don't need to pay for a venue. I did simple goodie bags for the kids at the party, most of which were older than my son, so I just did them according to age/sex. Check out dollar stores for lots of cheap favors. Hope some of these ideas help!!
