Any one a mom of a child with high functioning autism or asperger's?

my daughter is three and we are starting to suspect she may have asperger's syndrom. a cousin on my side of the family has it and my husband's sister has a mild form of autism (among other mental disorders). wondering if anyone else has a child with asperger's and what signs and behaviors the child displayed that led to a diagnosis. Our doctor just wants us to keep an eye on her and says if anything were to develop more she would be recommended for testing by her teacher once she starts school next month. should i leave it be, or mention this to her teacher? i'm somewhat at a loss here.

IMO, unless the child is a danger to others or to herself, I would not tell her teacher just yet.. she has not been diagnosed with anything yet..I think it would be helpful to have the teachers observations to go along with you to your Dr.'s appt, but I would not want to tell the teacher to look out for this and that, because that makes your daughter a target for observation, if she does something out of the ordinary, then her teachers need to be involved..
All depending on if you feel your daughter may hurt herself or others..

I would mention it to her teacher. Better off knowing than not IMO. Especially if it runs in the family. The sooner you get a diagnosis the sooner you can start IEP.
