How is everyone else feeling about the fast approaching birthdays? I dont know if I should be happy my little boy is growing up or crying my eyes out because he is growing so fast!

I'm loving the fact that he's 1. I was so excited to have made it this far. I can't wait for him to get a little older and understand what he says when he says he loves me. He's not said it yet, but I can't wait to see how he will become as a little kid and later as a teenager and adult. We should be patting each other on the back for making it this far and still having hair!

My little one just turned one on the 9th and I had a mixed feelings as well. He was 13 weeks premature and we didn't know if he'd make it for a long time so his 1st birthday was a happy time because we were so happy we could actually celebrate it.. Also sad because he's growing up though :(

It's been ups and downs for me -- can't believe it's here already, and I was at the store today buying stuff for her party, and I nearly got weepy over the "1" candles! My girl's first birthday! How is it possible? And she has just started to walk in earnest, and just do so many things that seemed unimaginable a few months ago. I see her becoming an independent little person -- not just my baby! Exciting, sad, bittersweet. Can't wait for our big day, though -- St. Patrick's Day! Going to celebrate with Irish Stew, Irish coffee and shamrocks on her cake. :)

My son's birthday is today, and I'm feeling bittersweet. It's been wonderful watching him progress a little bit each day, but then I look back and miss my labor & delivery, and all the interesting elements of having a newborn in the house.
It's almost an hour until his actual birth, then my birthday is tomorrow...so much in so little time...

I so know how u feel, im excited that he is growin and watching him become an independent little man is just wonderful but i dont like the fact that he is fast becomin his own little self not just my little baby boy. I have had a few cries of this so dont feel bad. And to add to matters im already 22 weeks pregnant with our 2nd which just makes seem all that much faster. I say if u feel u need a cry then have one, it makes u feel better.

I know how you feel..I love babies and they are so wonderful when they are infants but watching your baby grow up is wondreful and amazing..you will have lots of tears and do plenty of crying and it is all normal..you most certainly want to watch him grow up..wait until they start to school that was very hard for me..but my daughter was so eager and ready to go to school and to be around other kids, she was the only one on te school bus that was smiling and waving, I was the one the one that was crying..LOL..go ahead and cry your eyes out but they will be joyful tears because it is amazing to watch your own child grow ...

I'm on the crying my eyes out & happy wire. LOL I'm happy because I actually done it!!! I'm a single mom & can't believe how much he & I have grown this year!! I'll be 26 in 2 days & he'll be 1 in 4 days... It's amazing but at the same time he's growing so quickly!!!! People always said that when you have kids that time has no meaning any more & they're right!!!! It feels like a week ago I was bringing him home from the hospital & considering I've not lost any weight no matter how hard I try my body looks about the same too =-)

hello everyone! loved reading all your stories! my second (and most likely last) baby will be one on the 16. i have a HUGE age difference between my 2 girls. 14yrs! my advice to all of you, enjoy each and everyday! lock them into your memory with pictures, baby books, journals, videos, whatever your thing is. it really does go by soooo fast. i was young when my first was born and i was so excited to see her grow up and master every new skill. i spent alot of my time saying, "i cant wait until she..." and then it was gone before i knew it! this time i sit on the floor with her, stare at her, and take every new step in stride so that the days wont go so fast! happy 1st birthday little ones...and mommies too!

I love the little person he has become and how much he has grown and changed in the last year, going from needing me for everything now he is little mister independent. But I am going through the most surreal feeling that I just can't believe my little baby is now my little toddler and will one day be my little man. It is rather heartbreaking how fast theses years are going to go before I know it I will be celebrating his 21st rather then his first.

My son just turned 1 today. We had a party for him over the weekend and luckily I didn't cry but I think its because I was so busy. I'm excited for him and yet sad at the same time. Kids just grow too fast.

My baby boy is about to turn 1 as well, and while I'm excited for the party, I cry every time it hits me that he's growing up. I told my husband, I hope the teenage years go by this fast or faster, but until then I want time to slow down! Haha

i completely understand what you mean. My little guy Ashtons goen to be 1 on the 29th! it seems like just yesterday i was complaining that i wanted to give birth cuz i was so uncomfortable. lol my neighbor reminded me of that one. We ended up @ the hospital 3 time before he was born and 14 hrs of labor to boot. lol but it was worth every ounce of pain to see his beautiful face. Congrats on the little one turning 1 and tell him happy birthday

My last baby just turned one the 4th. I know how hard it is to let them go. But you just have to think how lucky we are to watch them grow! And even though you can never experience the milestones that they have already passed ever again, just think of all the fun and new things you get to do as they get bigger!
P.S. You can never take TOO many pictures! :)

I am so glad that I am not alone! My girl turned one yesterday and I have been and AM a wreck. I just packed up some of her smaller clothes and have been crying eyes out. I LOVE watching her grow and enjoy every single moment with her, but man, I didn't expect this grieving for the newborn days to hit so hard!

You know I am feeling the same way to, I don't know if I should cry because my little girl is growing up or if I should be happy cause she is going to be 1 on the 20 of march. I just don't want her to grow up.

I'm very sad about it personally. My husband took off and took my son when he was only 5 weeks old, and I lost all of the baby of his life. So for me it is very difficult that hes turning a year old. I never got the baby part. But I do get to have him on his birthday, which is great. Just.. sad at the same time.

I know how you feel, my little Lexi is turning one on the 9th and we are having a party on the 7th for her. I am so excited, but I can't believe she's so big! At times it felt like it would never get here and that I'd be getting up several times through the night forever, but thats gone and she's starting to walk and talk now. Sometimes I miss just being able to snuggle and relax with her for an hour, now she's a busy body! :)

Oh, my gosh! I am right there with you!!! I have had crying spells over the last couple of weeks, especially while editing the video of her first year for the party Saturday. However, today is her actual birthday, and I am celebrating and remembering "this time last year"...I have to think about the fact that it's exciting she is entering a new stage in life. There are many women out there who cannot have children, or have lost children, and would love to be celebrating this momentous occassion.

It's bittersweet. Today is my little guy's birthday and I'm so happy and I think about how big he is and everything and am proud, but then I think of what he looked like right when I had him a year ago and cried because I want him to stay little :(. We haven't sang happy birthday to him yet today but I know I'm gonna cry my eyes out, cause my eyes are welling up with tears right now just typing about it lmao.

I know exactly how you feel! One moment I am so happy for all his advancements, but then I want to cry because he's not my lil baby anymore! My son is turning 1 next week so I am planning his party, so for today, I am happy. Tomorrow, who knows, I may burst into tears when he pushes me away from cuddles because he wants to walk! Good luck with this emotional rollercoaster! Happy birthday to your son!
