Does your baby sleep through the night??

My baby is 11 months and she sleeps about 2-4 hours at a stretch. We cosleep so when she wakes up in the night I just roll over and nurse--neither of us fully wake up. She is NEVER up and fully awake in the night...since the day she was born. But I do feed her throughout the night at least 2 times and usually 4 or 5 times between 8:30 pm and 8:30 am and she takes 2-3 hours worth of naps each day.

My son started sleeping through the night (8 hours) around 3 months. By 5 months and ever since then he has slept from 8pm - 7am straight. Occassionally he will wake up and cry for a minute but go back to sleep on his own, unless he is sick or teething, then he requires some attention in the middle of the night. He also never took naps during the day and then around 6 months started napping really well. Now he still takes 2-3 naps a day that are about an hour or so long. I think he sleeps so well because he is soooooooooo active during the day. He wears me out! Good luck!

I feel ya my guy is 11 months and he has just started sleeping through the night the last week. I took him off bottles and jar food. this seemed to help alot I guess cause hes eating a lot more now! But man it is rough my first child slept through the night from six weeks on, so this was not something i expected.

Cant complain much, cause my daughter is 10 months 6 days old she goes to bed anywhere between 9 an 9:30 an wakes up anywhere between 10 to 10:30 every day, if she is not sick. Shes been doing that since she was 2 2 an half months.

My kids have all slept through at least 6 hours from day 1 and then 10-12 hours after about 3 months. Maybe he is getting cold or you need to fill him up more to get a good nite sleep. If he is feeding each time he wakes a good way is to give him water instead of milk cos bubbies dont like to wake up for a water bottle and will stop waking after a few nites. Goodluck

The professionals definition of "sleep through the night" is a 5 hour stretch, and they say that a baby can achieve that by the time they are 40 weeks old. Ladies, that is 10 months. So yes my baby "sleeps through the night" - but only by the sleep professionals standard - not society's. :)

My daughter is 11 months old today and she's been sleeping through the night pretty good. She is put to bed around 8:30pm and she gets up between 7:20-7:45am. My trouble is getting her to take good naps. She is getting a little better but she won't take a morning nap and she only wants to sleep about an hr in the afternoon. She's started to stretch it out to 2 hours though I'm hoping she keeps doing that. Sometimes she'll wake up in the middle of the night and fuss, but then can usually get herself back to sleep.

my boy is 10.5mos and has only slept through 2 or 3 times... but i'm not bothered by it. he naps at 10:30 and 3ish every day, usually an hour and a half each time. bedtime is at 7:30 and he's usually asleep by 8 and stays asleep until after 2 most nights. he'll nurse and go back to sleep. he's almost always awake at 7:30. sometimes he wakes a couple times to eat throughout the night - typically on days he's been at his father's house, and i think it's because he has no schedule there. we're co-sleeping so it's all pretty easy...the only time he's ever cried at night was when he cut his first tooth :)

Hi, my daughter is 11 months old and has slept through the night since about 3 months old. She now goes to bed at 8pm and wakes up around 7pm or just before. Sometimes she wakes up in the early hours and has a little cry but settles herself.

Oh Heaven's NO! My 10-month old son rarely sleeps thru the night! He went thru a phase a few months ago where he'd sleep most of the night...only waking once or twice to breastfeed. Then about 2 months ago he started this lovely habit of not going to sleep til 11pm or midnight and would be up between 1:30am & 3am for the rest of the night and finally knock out between 5am & 7am and then sleep til 11am or noon. But just a couple nights ago he started doing better & last night he slept 13 hours and only woke once!! *sigh of relief* I'm so envious of the all the mothers who love to rub it in that their babies have always slept thru the night!

I have heard that if they are low in iron from not getting enough meat it may effect their sleep. Though...my little man gets meat every lunch time and sometimes for tea and it hasn't helped! I do feel that its teeth causing probs for us though. Ahhh they will be 18 and we will be loosing sleep worrying that they are not home soon enough so I supose we should be happy that at least we know where they are!! hehhehehe

Jennifer, He actually does have a predictable pattern he goes by which is why it doesnt make sense to me. He wakes up around 7:30/8:00. We do breakfast (cereal and fruit). We do a bottle (pumped breastmilk) at 10:30. He will usually nap an hr. Then we do lunch around 12 12:30 (fruit and vegetable sometimes meat). We do another bottle (pumped breastmilk) at 2:30 and he will usually fall asleep around 3 and sleep close to 2 hrs. Then we do supper around 5 or 6 (fruit and vegetable) then another bottle (pumped breastmilk) at 7/8 and then he usually goes down. He wakes up around 10/11 or so and we give him cereal in the bottle. He still wakes up to nurse at 3 and 6/7. Does it sound like I am doing something wrong?? It just doesnt make sense to me why he is not sleeping.

My daughter is 10months old and sleeps from 9pm-10am. So 13hrs stretch at a time. She also has one 2hr nap a day from 2pm-4pm.
Her sleeping pattern also goes a bit awol while teething but I really can't complain at all.

Hey Trina. I have a 10 month old Son. Who stated sleeping through the nigh when he was 4 months old. He sleeps all the time. He takes a nap about ever 4 hours during the day, and than bed time is at 10pm. I got my Son on a sleeping schedule when he was 3 months old. And it worked out great in the long run! Is your baby on a sleeping schedule? And does he have an eating pattern? I also, give my Son rice/oatmeal right before he goes to bed, rather than when he wakes up in the morning. It helps him sleeping longer for me!

im glad to see i am not the only one that can get up to the precious little bundle numerous times, my son is 11months old and i was lulled into a false sense of security because at just 3weeks he began sleepin through for a 7hr stint then we hit 6months and teething and its never been the same, some nites it can only b once and he just needs a quick pat and hes out again and others it can b as many as 4 or 5 and just restless, for my own sanity by the 3rd or 4th time i usully pop him bed with my partner and i as he will then snuggle in even if he doesnt go rite off and then we r all a little more relaxed in the morning.

My daughter is almost 11 months (on the 13th) and sleeps through every night (except when shes sick or having a few teeth problems which is rarely) I think shes been doing it for the last few months without me realising that its been happening. She'll go to bed between 7.30 and 8.30pm (at the very latest) depending on when her only day sleep was and how long it went for, then will wake usually around 7-7.30am occasionally ill hear her about 6.30am but ill just pop the dummy back in and she'll go back to sleep for an hour. Sometimes she'll have a bit of a sleep cry because her sleep has lightened alittle bit and she cant find her dummy but once i give it back to her shes out again straight away and i wont hear from her again. She is actually a much better sleeper then her 4 year old sister who still wakes up at night.

Ahhh it drives me crazy... But he is a happy, healthy little bubba so I cant complain too much. He has improved OUT OF SIGHT from what he was at 6mths so I am happy...for now!! hehehhe Luckily my hubby is a doll and shares the wakes!

Thanks Beck that is pretty much what we are doing too!! The exact same times as well 10:30, 3, and 5:30 or 6. He has slept through the night once but I'm with ya maybe when they walk we can lose a couple of those wake up times!!

My gorgeous little man goes down at 7pm and wakes at 7am. We usually go in 2-4times to lay him back down and retuck him in. Luckily this only takes 2mins max. He has sleep through twice in his life!!! Sometimes its just one retuck / dummy plug at 4am. Othertimes its 10.30, 3, 5.30......... It just depends on teeth coming through etc. I would love him to sleep through. He is getting better at self settleing himself back off. I hope that when he is walking and more active he will be tireder. Good luck!
