Hey everyone, first of all I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Tiffany and I am pregnant with my first child. I'm due March 30. I am finding out if I'm having a boy or girl on Nov 10. Anyway, my question is: have you felt your baby move and what does it feel like? I have thought that I am feeling mine move a few times, but I'm just not sure....

I started to feel tiny bumps every few days at around 16 weeks, and then every day once a day a fish-flopping about kind of feeling at 18-20 weeks.

Now at 34 weeks, I can see my belly shifting, elbows jutting out, and she hits my husband in the arm while we lay down together. It's pretty unreal!

Braxton hicks basically feel like your belly is tensing up, almost like a light charlie horse/muscle spasm without the pain. you only feel them in your belly, where your uterus is. The farther you get, the more obvious they are.

HI, Tiffany

I am also due march 30th. ....but most likely will be booked for a c-section on or around the 15th.

this is my second baby and with my first I wasn't to sure what I was feeling, but it was about at 6 months that i felt kicking. but with this one I have felt movement for while.I guess the reason for that is that I know what to expect. it started out as little flutters and now it more like taping and I can see my belly move up and down if I watch close. I like to feel and watch the movements.

Where are you from? I'm in Alberta.

take care

I know now that I'm feeling the baby and have been for a couple of weeks. For me it feels like a tapping on my stomach. It's fun to feel her, but I know that it might be painful as the pregnancy progresses :)

I'm also due March 30 (at this date, almost 21 weeks) and I felt the baby moving at 18 weeks. At the end of 18 weeks, I noticed a pattern to them and realized it was the baby. I think that if you have a suspicion that it's the baby's movements, it probably is! :-)

Thanks for everyone's input. It's great to read everyone's story. BTW, I'm having a little girl :). I sure am shocked! I thought for sure that I was carrying a boy, but that just goes to show that you can't rely on feelings. We are super excited and now the fun begins in trying to pick out names! I think that's a topic for another thread.....lol.

I am 23 weeks, and I just felt the baby move at 21 weeks. I worried everyday after I hit week 18, since that was when some people told me they felt it, but really it is very normal to not feel anything until even week 24-26. My doctor told me this and she is very rationale and thorough. I am now feeling him all day AND night. As far as how it feels, I did not think it felt like 'butterflies' at all, LOL. I think it feels like gas at first, then like hunger pains, without the pain. Good luck with everything!

I'm currently 22 weeks with my second (due March 17) and can see my stomach moving when she moves. With my first I didn't feel movement until at least 19 weeks and even then they were like little butterflies. With this little girl I felt her for sure around 15 weeks and now she really kicks hard and moves around a ton. Plus I think my placenta is in a different place this time which makes a huge difference in how much movement I'm feeling.

Hi!! I'm Lisa, and I am also pregnant with my first, due March 20. I had the same question, but after today, i went for my second ultra sound (it's a boy!) and as i could see it move on the screen, i can actually feel it move now... kind of feels like a gas bubble a little bit.. it is definately a strange feeling. I was wondering if everything was alright, because i didn't think i was feeling movement either, but the girl who did the ultra sound said i definately have an active baby boy in there.... he wouldnt quit squirming lol... Did you find out what yours is?

HI Tiffany
I'm one day from you with your due date and when you find out... I feel like I am waiting for Christmas to find out what we are having. This is our first child too and we are so excited and terrified at the same time. I think sometimes I feel the baby but not for sure. My friend said the real kicks can come as early as 22 weeks so hopefully we will get the full feeling soon. I think that is what we want as long as the baby does not keep us from sleeping. There will be time for that.
This is my first time on this so let me know if there are other ways to communicate if needed. Would love to keep in touch and share stories. Rachel Andras... Oregon

Hi. I am due March 24th with my 3rd. Don't know what yet, assuming another girl by the heartbeat. I have felt this baby as with my last pretty early between 12-14 weeks. But that is only because I know what to look for. With my first I did not feel it until about 18-19 weeks (just before the ultrasound). I would describe the first movements like bubbles popping, very soft fluttering. As the baby gets bigger it feels like someone flicking you with a finger from the inside out! If you feel a thump, thump thump in the same spot a few times, chances are good you are feeling tiny little kicks : )

Hey Tiffany!

I am also expecting my first child. I am due March 12th and we just found out on Halloween that IT'S A BOY! I first felt him around 19 1/2 weeks...so amazing isn't it! I have to agree with Jessica's comment about wishing they wouldn't kick around bedtime. The other night around 11:30 he was really active and all I wanted to do was get some sleep! lol Good luck with your upcoming ultrasound!

Hey everyone, great to meet you and hear your thoughts. I know that I've been feeling the baby this past week (week 19). I'm certain of it now and now that I know that it's the baby that I'm feeling I am also fairly certain that I've been feeling it for a couple of weeks. It doesn't feel like butterfly movements as some people have described, but more like a gentle tapping in my stomach or gas bubbles...it's so cool to know that the baby is moving around!

Hi Tiffany,

I have been feeling butterfly movements since about 18 weeks. I am now 24 weeks and the movements are very noticable. At times, I can even see my stomach "jump" so to speak! My husband has felt it and my mother in law has also felt it. It really is different for everyone!

Hey Tiffany! I'm pregnant with my first and due March 14th (and it's a girl!) I first felt her seriously move around the 16-18 weeks. I was underweight when I got pregnant so that could be why I felt it so early, but I've been told as long as you start to feel movement in the 24th week, you're fine! When the baby moves, you'll know! When you think you're starting to feel it, start placing your hand on your belly in that spot and he/she may respond to that! My husband can feel the movement and I just hit 22 weeks today. Everyone is different. Good luck on Monday finding out the sex! It's so exciting!

Hi, I am pregnant for the 2nd time around, this time with twins. I started feeling TINY movements around 15 1/2 weeks, and I am now 17 weeks and feel movement many times a day - no mistaking what it is! It feels like something moving from the inside of you, and it definitely isn't gas - just feels kind of like right from the core of you, but then as it gets stronger it feels more like kicks, definitely more defined. You will feel that baby soon enough and then you'll wish it would stop for a little while so you can sleep! haha

My little girl moves all the time. Truthfully you might feel the baby move but it could be gas. I am not trying to be funny but you are still early enough in the pregnancy for it to be any body's guess. To help though, it feels kinda like little flutters. Like butterflies when you are swinging on a swing set. They feeling will get more dsefined and stronger as the weeks go by. By the time you find out if its a boy or a girl, the movements will be more obvious and you can begin notice little by little. The more patient you are to feel the baby move, the more you will enjoy each movement.

By the way, I am due March 8 with a little girl. My second child - 1st being a boy who is now 7 (Nov.4). I felt movements with this child about the same time I found out the baby was a girl.
