How many times does your baby sleep during the day?

My 10 and a half months old son used to have 2 naps during the day, 1 hour at 9.30 and 1,5 hours at 2.30. The other day he decided he wouldn't sleep in the morning. As a result he is very very tired during almost the whole day. How did you get over this period when 2 naps were too much and 1 wasn't enough? For how long does this take?
Thanks for your answers.

My almost 1 year old is already down to one nap. (I think it's a result of all of the running around we do b/c of her older siblings.) Now she just takes one long nap in the afternoon. She wakes up in the am around 7, naps from 12:30-3:30/4 and goes to bed by 8.

My daughter is 11 months and she gets up about 8, eats breakfast at 9, naps from 10-12, eats lunch at 1, naps from 2-3:30, eats a snack at 4, eats dinner at 6, bed at 8. about 2 times a week she'll wake up in the middle of the night between 2&5 for a bottle and butt change, but then she'll usually sleep until 8:30. if she wakes up at 5:30-6:30, she'll go back to sleep until 9.

My 11 month old son, Tristin, has been having only 1 nap during the day since he was about 5months, or somewhere around here. He usually goes down around noon, and sleeps till 3ish. Then at 7 he goes down for the night. Every day is slightly different, but for the most part I try to stick to this schedule. Nights he sleeps from 7pm to around 8am the next morning.

I did try 2 naps during the day, but he just doesn't do well with them. I was trying nap time at 10:30, and 4:00, but he was turning his 4pm naps into his bed time, and if i would wake him up to eat dinner, he just wouldn't take it, he wanted a bottle and to go back to bed, also waking up at 4am. So I just dropped the later nap, and thats what works best for him.

My 11 month old daughter usually has 2 naps a day ranging from 1/2 hour to an hour. She has never been much of a day sleeper, and has been sleeping through the night since she was 3 weeks old.

My son gets up at 5:30 so I dread him stopping his morning nap, he is in transition right now it seems 1 hour nap in morning and 2 hour nap in afternoon, bed around 6:30...and don't try keeping him up later...he's still up around 5:30... My mom says its payback...I was also an early bird

my boy is 11 months old, a few months ago he would have 4 45minute naps throughout the day, go to bed at 8pm and sleep through to 6am, now he has weaned himself to one morning nap for about 2hours (sometimes three) and one arvo nap for 2 hours, not looking forward to when he starts having one sleep a day.

My daughter is 11 months and has two naps during the day. She'll go down for a 1hr nap in the morning (normally 2hrs after waking up) and then she'll go for an afternoon nap around 3:00is for 2hrs or so. All kids are different...some need more sleep then others. I've thought about cutting out her morning nap, but come 10:00 she is so unberable...she still needs that nap. It all depends on your child and what their body needs!

My daughter (11 months just) usually only has one sleep at lunch time, she'll go down about 11.30-12 for anywhere between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours, but if we're out longer in the morning then she'll fall asleep in the car on the way home for about 20 mins then wont go down again until 1.30-2pm for about an hour or so. but regardless if she sleeps once or twice during the day she still stays up until about 7.30pm and then sleeps all night until 7.30am.

This is my same question! My 11 month old decided the other day to get rid of her afternoon nap (on some days) and she's very crumpy from mid-afternoon till bedtime, but she doesn't want to sleep in the afternoon anymore!

Hi i have a 10 month old son who does not nap during the day he only has one at 6pm for 30 minutes and then he has his dinner bath and a bottle in bed. He is in bed for 8.30pm and he has been sleeping right through the night, my advise would be little cat naps of 10 -15 minutes as that what we did and then we slowly stopped them and he gets a rest @ 6pm to make him have a little nap. Some days he does not want that nap but we lay him in his cot and put a few toys in there so he can play for 30 minutes x x x

My 11 month old sleeps from 10pm-9am. She takes an hour long nap at 11:00, another hour nap at 3:00, and a 30 min. nap at 7 (roughly). Sometimes she takes 4 naps! It is very hard to keep her up for 3 hours. She get really whiney and even starts crying if it's been too long. She goes down for most of her naps without even crying. The trick is to put her down before she's overtired, at the first sign of fatigue (yawn, rubbing eyes, pulling ear). If babies get overtired their adrenaline kicks in and they can't go to sleep.

I have a 10 1/2 month old baby, He usually goes to bed at 10pm, He wakes up at 7:30, Which is when I have to get older kids off to school. Then he is ready for a 45 min. nap by 9:30, Or else if he stays up he takes a better nap around 12-1pm. lasting a good hour or two.. Then he usually takes a 3pm nap and then another nap no later then 6, So I feel that he naps every three hours. But he is awake several times threw the night.

My 10 month old daughter used to take two 1 hour naps..one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Now she takes one 2 hour nap in the afternoon (depending on when she wakes in the morning). If she wakes up really early, then her nap is usually late morning, but if she wakes up later, then she has her nap in the afternoon.

My daughter is 10mths 2 weeks and she has 1 nap that lasts 2hrs. She sleeps through all the night.
We had problems getting her nap right so it wasn't too close to bed time or too far so she'd get cranky. This is her pattern:

Wake 9:30am --- Nap 2pm --- Wake 4pm --- Bed 9pm

My 11 month old only has one nap during the day. A month ago he would have a nap from 12 - 2.30pm but now he only sleeps from 11am-12.30am. I think the older they get the less they sleep during the day..

Most babies drop to one nap between 12 and 18 months. There is usually a transition period of about 2 months where some days they will nap and some days they wont.

Some babies do drop to one nap earlier than 12 months but it is less common. I would try adjusting his nap times, maybe try putting him down a bit later for both naps so that he will go down in the morning? If he absolutely refuses to sleep in the morning then you might have to move his afternoon nap earlier, maybe 12pm and hope that he sleeps longer to compensate.
