My son is allergic to milk. He is drinking a soy based formula but I would like him to drink a milk like product that is soy or rice milk. Is he too young for that?

My V nurses when I'm around and drinks soy milk when I'm at work. Many of the soy milks out there are well fortified. Equivalent or better than cow's milk. Look for the words "Ultra" and of course, read the nutritional labels.

That's really interesting, and I'm all for trying new things and methods. I will check it out. Thanks!

Hi Katherine, not sure if you have had a chance to 'google' blood type diet but I hadn't heard of it either until we went to an alternative theripist. Its all about how our bodies respond different to foods. We started it during my husbands 6 week radiation therepy (after his second brain tumour), we within a few days felt fantastic. Bowel issues I had suffered (and thought was 'normal' for me) went. We had so much more energy (no need for arvo naps anymore) and felt happier and healthier. Each blood type has a different 'good foods' and 'bad foods'. Its all based on evolutonary trends of something?? Different people have different opinions, my Dr thinks its crap! but for is it has been fantastic. Everyone who I know who has done it says how great it has been for them and how much better they feel. It is restrictive so a lot of people give it up but I have never spoken to anyone who said they felt worse or it caused problems.
There is a lot of info on the net about it.

I have never heard of that, Beck. A blood type diet? Is that holistic? How does that work?

I chose a rice milk with extra protein and due to the fact that he is still breastfeeding and eats a great variety of foods I am not relying on the milk for a lot of nutritional value, its really only in his porriage and occasionally a cup at morning tea that he had any.

I am doing the blood type diet with my little man. I have done it in the past and feel 100% awesome! So I am doing it again. I decided to trial it with my bub for a month to see if we notice a difference in him at all. He is blood type A which is no wheat/diary amoung other things. Now I know that some people wont agree in this but he is recieving all fresh, healthy foods so I feel its causing him no harm.

Beck and Cathy, are your LO's allergic to milk? Or are you just trying new things?

Nope, but check with your doctor. My daughter has milk problems too. She can't drink cow's milk and the other milk's have absolutely NO nutritional value. Her doctor said to keep her on formula until she is two for all of the vitamins and nutrients.

PS: She can handle yogurt, the proteins are different, than in milk.

My son is at 13mths. He still bfeeds 2-4 feeds a day but has a sipper cup of soy or rice milk 0-2 times a day depending on how much bmilk he has had and on his cereal. I have a 'protein' enriched rice milk at the moment. He seems to prefer the rice milk.
