My son, Haynes, will turn 1 on March 27. We have a place for the party but need ideas. I have a monkey cake picked out but need stuff to go with it. Jungle theme I guess. Any and all ideas welcome and appreciated!

Jungle safari theme is good for one year old. You can also have a Curious George theme party if your child loves monkeys. You can buy all your supplies online from various online stores such as MyBirthdaySupplies.

My daughter turned 1 on the 8th and we had a small party with my parents and some friends. One thing I would recommend is getting (or making) a "smash cake" for the birthday child. No candles on this one, and not a whole lot of frosting either, but my daughter dug right in and loved every bite. After cake we switched outfits and then did presents. Another thing that I hadn't really anticipated were how frustrated the other party guests (ages 2 and 4) got with my daughter. She didn't get the whole unwrapping thing and was way more interested in the balloons than anything else (even the big cake with lit candles wasn't as interesting!). We got good pictures (which was the point of the whole thing) and ended up letting the older kids open most of the presents - she didn't care, and neither did we!

For the princess thing, start a birthday tiara tradition! A good friend lets her daughters wear her wedding tiara on their birthdays. Mine is way too heavy for my daughter, but I found great plastic ones at the party store - a 6 pack was very inexpensive - and that way all the girls can have one in their goodie bags. For an outdoor party, maybe little bottles of bubbles? I'm doing that for my daughter's Sesame Street party, along with a Big Bird cake (I haven't gotten out my tips and colors in over a year, so wish me luck!), little coloring books and sticker books I found, crayons (the other kids are older), and of course, little rubber duckies. I'd say outdoor toys the kids can use at the park. Our daughter's party will mostly be grown-ups, though.

We are having a Winnie the Pooh party. Walmart has really good boxed party deals and then the individual extras are cheap too.

Thanks for the ideas! Gonna do jungleanimal cutouts on the walls so the kids can have their pics made in front of them. OrientalTrading is great! Decided to go with monkey baseball caps I saw on there instead of party hats. It seems to all be coming together!

Oriental Trading has wonderful, yet inexpensive items. I just got some items from there for my daughter's party.

well Im making my son a dragon cake we are having a bbq at home with fruit platters.. I have got a few dragon plates and hats and party bags but the rest is just generic.

your jungle theme could be fun if you have leaves and lots of green and maybe fake snakes coming down from the ceiling .. not sure how much you want to spend but camaflarge netting is cool .
