My 13 month has been taking two naps up until recently. He is now fighting the second nap. What is your child's sleep schedule?

How is your son's attitude the remainder of the day when he doesn't take the 2nd nap well? I know with my 2 year old I could tell when he was ready to give up that 2nd nap because he stopped being a bear to deal with when he missed his 2nd nap. I can't remember exactly when he stopped taking the 2nd nap, but when your son is ready to not have the nap you will know because he won't be cranky and over-tired acting without it. :)

Hope that helps!

Dimitri is 14mos and takes 1 nap a day from 12-2. He's been on this schedule since 12 months b/c of his day care. He goes to bed at 730 and sometimes I have to wake him at 730am so I can go to work. I do love the 2hr naps and he's much happier afterwards.

My 14 month old sone has almost the exact same routine as Kim's daughter no matter where he is for the day (sometimes with me or his dad, sometimes childcare, sometimes with his nan or his auntie!)

Maddie does the same thing sometimes. I found as long as she gets 2 hours/day of napping whether its 2 in the am or one hr am and one hour later in the day....she does fine (usually!!)

My nearly 14 month old is playing quite happily while I write this - and it's nearly 10pm! Our fault, we put her down for 2 naps today, at 11.30 for an hour and a half and again at 4 for an hour. Result: she didn't want to go to bed with her 3 year old sister (who doesn't sleep during the day) at 8.30! I won't be doing that again, she usually has one nap after lunch (1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours) and then she's ready to drop at 8pm, which is important for me as that's what time her sister goes to bed. Then they both sleep from about 8.30pm till 7.30am.

My daughter is 13 1/2 months old and hasn't taken 2 naps in a few months. I would love for her to still get in 2 naps a day but she gave up the 2nd one. So she currently only gets one a day around noon and sleeps for 1.5 - 2 hrs. Then she is ready for bed around 7:30.

My daughter gets 1 nap a day. She goes to bed at 8pm. Wakes up at 9am. Takes a 3 hour nap at 2pm. She's been on that sleep schedule since the time change.

My daughter is 14 months old and is only taking one nap. I my oldest boy who is 3 years old, doesn't take naps anymore. I don't force him to. Unless he really needs a nap, I will let him.

My 13.5 month old takes a morning nap around 9 for an hour or two, and another nap around 2 for another hour or two! Sometimes I'll get lucky and she'll nap for 3 hours at a time, but not often!

guess I lucked out! Our Little one (14 months) is up at 7, nap at 930... lunch 12 nap at 1:30 ... sometimes a short nap around 530.. if it's been a super busy day.... and then bedtime is at 8.

I think it matters to your childcare situation. We have a sitter who comes to the house, so he's comfortable in his enviroment. When we looked at daycares recently they All had his age on a 1 nap a day schedule.

I think they know when they need sleep, the are not like lazy teens (lol) who want to sleep in all day, I figure if he's tired he'll sleep, if not it's play time!

My 13 month old has started fighting her second nap this past week also. My other kids stopped their second nap at about the same age. She may doze a little while I'm holding her, but I can't lie her down without her waking up. I've never had a problem with that until now. She's still really happy at the end of the day though.

My son is 14mths and has been doing one lunch time sleep 12-2.15 for months now. He sleeps 7pm-7am. He is a 'low sleep requirement' baby so last really well on one. I love the one sleep, its makes the day run a lot smoother with time to do things in the morning and arvo.

My 14 month old stopped taking her 2nd nap at around 12 months. She wakes between 5.30 and 6.30am and then nap time is between 10 - 11 for 1.5 to 3 hours. She is then awake until bedtime which is between 7 and 7.30pm. She was fighting the afternoon sleep, so I gave up, as she was happy enough and trying for 45 minutes to get her to sleep for it only to last 10 odd minutes, I didn't see the point. I say so long as they are happy, they wear themselves out and have a good sleep at night. Less time for us to do stuff in the day, but I give her quiet time at about 4.30, whilst I get dinner ready and clean up etc., so that works for us.

My daughter also stopped the 2nd nap....she is up at 9am (except tues-thurs when I work, a bit earlier 8am)...naps from about 1 til 4, then is in bed by 9pm. We have had this schedule for quite a while now.

My 14th month daughter has been taking just one nap a day since she turned 1. She has a breastfeed about 4am but then goes straight back to sleep to 7am. Her nap is for an hour to an hour and a quarter usually about 11am. She then goes to bed at 6pm every night. I know it is only an hour during the day but it's great that she does 13 hrs overnight.

Hi, My daughter is 14mths and also she is starting to have 1 nap, most of the days. She is up around 7 am , now started to go for her sleep later around 11 till 12.30. By the time she wants to sleep again its around 4.30 so its too late so i keep her up till 6.30-7pm do you girls give b/f at 8 am i think i give it to her too late as around 9.30am but she has her milk at 7.30 250ml. Do you give milk and b/f all at once at 8? bit confused?

He's been taking naps from 11-1 or 10:30am to 12:30ish. He gets up around 7am every day...so it is such a relief if he does this. Sometimes he wants to sleep at noon to 2 and that is when my housework gets done so late in the day! I am lucky to have him sleep again from 5-6:30 or 6-7 something like that. He is fighting the second nap too! At least we can get him to go to bed a little earlier those nights!!

My 14 month old has also stopped taking two naps. What's worse is that his 1 nap now often falls right in the middle of the day so we can't do much of anything on weekends. He seems OK as long as it's at least 2 hrs, but otherwise he gets pretty crabby and clingy. I know they're all different, but my first son took 2 naps forever and the 2nd one was a min of 2 hrs. It was wonderful for all of us. He was a very happy baby. In the morning I'd put on a baby Einstein although I'm not sure how old he was at that point. We didn't let him see any TV for at least the first year. He'd fall asleep quickly with the cuddling and soft music. In the afternoon, if he was fighting it bad, I'd take him for a car ride and he'd be out in minutes and stay out when I put him in his crib. Maybe that's not the best method, but it worked. I hope your baby is a happy one even with his 1 nap. Good luck!

My 13 month old daughter is the same. She usually take 2 naps a day but she also fights that second nap! Our schedule for the 2 naps a day is wake up at 7am...nap around 1030 (1 hr 30 min, or 2 hours) then awake for most of the day then another nap around 4pm. then bedtime around 9pm. For the 1 nap a day...(only when she wakes up late in the morning) wakes up at 8-830am then nap around 11 or 12pm (2 hour nap) then stay awake til bedtime...(8pm). sometimes i gotta force her to stay awake til 8pm but she is very tired at that point.

My son is also 13 months. He refuses to take a second nap too. His doctor said as long as he's getting enough sleep between what he sleeps at night and one nap... it's fine. He said they're supposed to have about 14 hours in a 24 hour period.

My son(fourteen months)takes two naps a day. Since I babysit my cousin's kids, I have an odd schedule and he goes to bed at one in the morning, depends if he skipped his second nap. Maybe your child is ready for only one nap a day. :) I'd say if he/she is crabby to force the second nap. I have had to do that to my son before because he was just overtired. I hope that helps a little.. lol.

My daughter has been wavering between 1 and 2 naps since she turned one. When she takes one, it's usually middday, but if I can get her to go down by 10 am, she'll take another nap around 3 or 4. I try to let her sleep as long as she wants, but if you want your child to nap more in the day then you have to limit their sleeping hours at night. Bedtime for my kids is 9pm, and they are all up before 7am, so they usually nap during the day.

My daughter is 13 months old and stopped taking 2 naps about 5 months ago. She usually wakes up in the morning around 8 or so and goes down for a nap sometime between 1:00 and 3:00- depending on when she starts to get tired. She naps for a good 1 and a half to 2 hours and it gives me a nice break to get anything done I need to. I found one nap makes it easier for her to go to bed at night, she is out by 7:30 or 8 every night :) hope this helps!!

I like having my children tired around bedtime. My 13mth old takes 1 nap a day unless its been a hard day then she takes 2 but that is rare. Usually it is around 11 or 12 for 2 hours.
There is always quiet time if you need it, just give him some toys in the playpen so he knows he doesn't have to go to sleep...(we don't allow toys in the crib at bedtime) and let him k now he can play for a while so you can take a break.

My girls are 13 months and they still take 2 naps a day..here's our schedule: up around 7:30, breakfast 8:00, nap around 9:30 for ~1 1/2 hrs, lunch noon, nap around 1:30 for ~2 hrs, dinner between 5 and 6, then bath and bed around 7:30......if he's ready, I'm sure you'll know it....I just figure if they need it, they'll want it and let you know.
