My son is 14 months old and he can go weeks sleeping through the night, then all of a sudden he'll wake at night screming in his sleep. i have to wake him up, to settle him down because he is rolling screaming, crying. but still eyes shut asleep???

his never seen anything scary he lives in a happy caring home ect:

iv rulled out teelthing as his had eight teeth for ages,
im so confused, there nothing really i can do, besides attent to him and tell him its ok' noones gonna hurt you ect''

Has anyone else experiened this before??
The nurse said its a faze and he'll grow out of it as he gets older.

where expecting baby no 2, in September, so im worried about how his gonna go sleeping when iv got a newborn to attend to...
i just hope he feels safe at night. and i hate to wonder what his dreaming about....

thanks xx

My 4 year old has them they started around 12 months and well he still has them. They started really bad like for hours on end day after day. Now he has them once or twice a week. Its not really a nightmare thing its more of a sleep disorder. Each child is diffrent and will respont to diffrent methods. I fould that leaving a tv on helped. My son was also asthmatic and breathing treatment before I went to bed helped to. Moving seemed to have helped also. His terrors now dont seem to bother my now one year old daughter. I have never had one of his wake her up, but she now has them to. My grandfather had them until the day he died. I am sorry to say there is not much you can do but make sure that during a terror he dosnt hurt himself.

I used to get them as a child. They were horrific. I don't know if it's a manifestation of stress or what. I know I wanted to sleep with my parents and they wouldn't let me :(
