My son is only four months old, but he's teething bad already He doesn't understand to hold the teether in his mouth for long enough to get relief, but I can't hold him 24/7, any ideas? My first one teethed late and this wasn't a problem, but this is starting to drive me nuts.

I don't know what to do! My son is teething and he has stopped sleeping through the night because he is so annoyed. My son is also 4 months and he doesn't understand to keep the teether in his mouth either. I have been using baby orajel when it gets bad but I also don't feel comfortable using it too much.

My son is also teething and has the same problem...not enough motor control to be able to hold the teething rings in his mouth. We have a raz-berry teether mentioned above but its too big for his mouth. We have done frozen washclothes and those have worked well. Our ped recommended against the use of baby tylenol except for the occasional fever or ache, but we have been using Hyland's teething tablets which were recommended by a friend and they have been great. They are very small and dissolve right in the babies mouth so there is no chocking issue. Good luck! Oh...to help with eating, we have started using cold water from the fridge to mix his formula with so he gets the coldness against his gums, which he loves. We also keep his baby food cold in the fridge as well for the same effect.

my baby is 4 months too and starting to teeth, i regularly give her baby tylenol & orajel. i find giving her the orajel first (she doesn't like it that much) but then quickly give her the baby tylenol, the sweetness works.....i do it during bath time too...right before bed..

if your oldest had teeth late chances are so will your son. I have 3 kids and my first two got their first tooth around 9mths and the doc said not to expect my son's until about that time as well. I havent had problems with my girls teething and he said my son isnt teething yet just he loves to chew on his fingers and the drooling is normal at this age. I do know of a natural teething remedy that my husband's family believes in and thats getting some bittersweet and making a necklace of it and putting it around the baby's neck. I personally have not tried it because my daughters were not fussy teethers but some of his cousin's did it with their babies and they swear by it. Just a thought

My daughters first tooth sprouted just a little around 3 months. Now she's going all the way with teething and she just turned 4 months. I've found that she eats less and is pretty cranky. We've noticed a fever as well. We just give her Tempra ever 4 hrs if she needs it (but her last dose for the night is before she goes to bed, nothing during the night) and use baby ora-gel to give some relief for her gums. She's not a big fan of the teething rings, but she likes her soother and fingers. I just re-introduced her to a raz-berry soother (shape of a rasberry to help the gums) and she doesn't mind it. I'm going to try other teething rings to see if she likes those. Good Luck with yours!

Maybe try freezing his pacifier? That should give you a little break.
