My 9 1/2 month old weighed 16 lb 7 oz at her last checkup. She's always been in the 25th percentile, and her pediatrician is pleased. However, she sees a gastroenterologist/ child nutritionist every 8 weeks, and in that 8 week span she only gained 1 pound total. He was very concerned. It's not just that every baby is different, every pediatrician is different too!!

Quoting Helen:

At 41 wks my son weighs 22lbs, I was getting worried as other mothers were looking at him and saying "OMG, he's huge!", I was getting a bit of a complex.

At his recent 9 month check-up, I voiced my concerns to his Dr. and he assured me he is fine, the Dr. told me my son is in the 75th percentile and he would need to be 25lbs or more to be considered "obese".

my son is 43 weeks and weighs 25.4 and 30.5 he is far from obese. he is in the 95th percentile for weight, height, and head circ. the doc said he is perfectly healthy and an all around big boy. everyones weight and height differs, even as adults. as long is your child is getting nourished properly, don't worry about it.

i would not worry i have got a daughter who is nearly eleven months and she weighs bout 17 lbs but the only thing i do is give her extra yogurts like little stars and that and sain is only having one bottle a day which she spreads out the hole complete day! so i would not worry what does ur health vistor think? and u can add milk and butter to mash potato's but i would not worry to much as long she is happy at the end of the day and some baby's are just small!!!

my son is 10months old and 17lb14, he is on the smaller side, and altho he was at birth quite dinky (6lb12) he has also had a few episodes where he has lost weight (going from 25th percentile at birth down to the below the 2ndpercentile, so a hefty a drop, but he's now consistently around the 9th), down to his undiagnosed cows milk allergy until he was 4.5months, so in theory he shld be about 20lb now, but we (myself and doctors/paediactric doc) aren't too worried as since his diagnosis his weight gain has been nice and steady and putting on roughly 1lb a month, and we can't change what happened before the diagnosis so we can't get him to gain that extra that he lost, if you see what i mean?. how much was ur daughter at birth? has she always been smaller than average or is it a sudden thing where she seems to have dropped?if she is much lower down the scale than her birth wieght then perhaps there is an underlying problem that needs looking into....hows her length? have the checked that recently? is that conitnuing consistently? but having said that, if she is happy in herslef and appears to be healthy otherwise, i wldn't fret too much. how is weaning going so far? xx

My little girl is just under 10 months and weighs just about 16 pounds. She's chubby, though. Because she's small, the doctor tells me her weight to length percentile, and she is between 50 and 75%. Maybe you can ask your doctor about that if your worried :)

My son weighed 24.2 lbs and was 30 inches tall at his 9 month apt. My older daughter was about the same when she was 9months old. They were 8'9" and 8'14" at birth.

Bella at 10 months, 4 days (b. March 18th) weighs 16.5 pounds (using our home digital scale which rounds to the nearest .5, so give or take a few ounces) and measures 26 inches long. I guess she's on the small side being that she's in the 5th or 6th percentile for both.

My daughter is a bit on the small side too. she was 17 lbs 6 oz. My doc said shes fine as long as shes in a normal range for her original height an weight growth chart. Like if she was doing well progressing and then she didnt grow or gain much. As long as shes healthy to you and doing fine i wouldnt worry =]

My son weighs 25 lbs 9 oz. He wears 18-24 month clothes, so he's a big boy, but the doc says he is very healthy.

My daughter is 10 months old and weighs almost 24 lbs. She is 30 inches in height. She is just a BIG girl all 'round. She has always been off the charts. As long as your little girl is in preportion to her height and she is steadily gaining, even if it's a small amount, then she will be fine :) Try not to worry x

I am having the same issue with my daughter! She is 10 months and weighs 16lbs. I have to keep bringing her in just to get her weight checked. I don't understand why she is so "underweight". It seems to me that she eats constantly! Hopefully she catches up!

My son is 10 1/2 months old and he weighs just about 22lbs. He was ALWAYS around 80% for his height and weight but once he started walking (at 8 months old) he flatlined on weight gain and has stayed at around 21-22 lbs for the past 3 months which still puts him at 55%. The doc said hes healthy and at a great weight but because he is so active he burns alot of calories. Oh and he sure does like to eat too....lol

my daughter was 16 pounds and 10 months and she only started picking up weight the last three months, and its because she is on an almost all sugar diet, she drinks so much juice and a lot of corn syrup for undiagnosed digestive issues

My ten month old daughter weighs 22 lbs. She is in the 94% but she is also in the 95th percentile for her height. I would say as long as she is within the same percentile as her height and she is gaining weight, I wouldn't worry about it.

My little guy weighs 27lbs and he's 10 months old now. His Dr. wants him to be a little lighter but I disagree (and not in an ignorant way. I'd like him to stay at a healthy weight) but Dominic is very tall. he's 30 inches. so he is proportioned well and his weight does not seem to hinder him in any way while playing and walking/running.

My Avery weighs just 15 lb and 3 oz at 10 months....but she was a preemie (5 weeks early and only wighed 3 lbs at birth). The dr would like her to gain a little more weight but she eats as muh as her twin brother(he weighs 20lb 1 oz) and just isn't gaining. Both my mom and sister are small though and i'm not too worried. She hasn't been sick and she is healthy and hitting all her milestones. If i were you i wouldn't worry. She will grow when she's ready!

My 10 month old only weighs a little over 17 lbs...My dr thinks mine is under weight as well. I don't think that she is as she eats all of the time, and drinks her bottles well...When she was born she only weighed 5 lbs 3 oz so I feel that she has more then added weight on!!! I wouldn't worry!!! I am sure that you have a beautiful healthy baby!!!

They say about 16 to 18 lbs, my baby is almost 10 months and the doctor says she is underweight at 14lbs 8 ozs, so I have been stuffing her like a christmas turkey (lol). trying to get a little bit more weight on her before her next appt which is a weight and iron check, but it really does depend on the baby. So hopefully she gains a lb or 2 but if she is suppossed to be tiny its ok.
