Any ideas on what I could do to help him out? He's 11 weeks today. Has a really bad cold...very stuffed up nose, icky thick drainage in nose, drainage in eyes, and cough. Doctor just told me to use saline spray and a nose bulb syringe. anything else that might help him be more comfortable? I am using the Little Noses Saline Spray. He has a realllly hard time eating and sleeping because he can't breath through his nose.

In addition to Amy's suggestion, u can rub his chest with Eucalyptus oil drops and/or peppermint oil drops mixed with 1 tablespoon of olive oil; this works in the same way that Vicks vapor-rub does, and is effective at clearing congestion and soothing baby to allow her to rest. Rosemary Oil also works the same. I found Johnson's Baby Vapor Bath very good at clearing congestion in his nose and chest, it contains menthol (mint), eucalyptus and the rosemary. After bathing him rub him warm and cozy, make his room warm and humid. Hope your lil one gets better soon.

When he sleeps try to prop him up so have him sleep in his swing or a bouncy seat. When you and your hubby take a shower bring him into the bathroom with you so the steam can help with the congestion. Place a humidifier by him while he's sleeping. If you bf place vicks on your breast above where his mouth would be to help with the breathing, if you bottle feed place the vicks vapor rub on the bottle portion. You can also rub a little vicks on his chest to help him breath easier. Hope your little one is feeling better soon!
