My son is one next week 16th March. We are having a party for him at a big recreation park here with lots of yummy food and I might do pass the parcel for the bigger kids etc. Umm we have about 45 people coming hahahah, I always tend to blow things out of proportion!!

We just celebrated my daughter's first birthday this past weekend. My jhusband built her a sand box, so we had a sand box party. It was so great. All the kids had a wonderful time playing and digging, We also had sand art for an activity. For favors we gave sand pails with a shovel, bubbles and sand toys.

i'm doing an under the sea theme for my son, since his bedroom is decorated with fish and turtles, etc. i'm really excited for it. we're having some family and friends, and there will only be about 3 or 4 children there since i have asmall house and didnt want it too crowded.
i'm making a cake with blue icing with fish/turtle/whale shaped candies on top, and i made a bunch of hanging decorations in the shapes of sea creatures for the living room, to go along with the blue and green crepe paper.
i think i may borrow the bubble machine from my son's daycare for the weekend too, to give it a real oceany feel.
i also have a photo book of my sons first year that has a guestbook page at the back that everyone can look at and write Caleb a little message. other than that, we'll probably just do some simple appy trays and cake and presents. then people can stay and visit for a bit, or be on their way. it's only 2 hours long

My son is turning one on March 29th. We are doing the Spongebob theme. He just loves it! I rented an indoor pavillion at our local county park. I am getting a big bouncy house for th eolder kids and a smaller bouncy house for the younger kids. I am also using a large 8x10 or maybe bigger frame and putting a small pic of my son in the middle and using the rest of the white for people to sign at his birthday with good wishes, then I will frame and hang in his room!

Check out www.birthdayinabox.com They are GREAT for ideas and purchasing. Also, check out your local bakeries and see what kind of cakes they specialize and go a theme off of that. Our bakery had a special Sesame Street cake and that became our theme.

I origionally thought about Sesame Street, but he's not really into that. My husband is voting for the Three Stooges ~ unfortunatly Andrew does like that. However, going for easy to find and doing a Mardi Gras theme. Since Mardi Gras is a week after his birthday, things are very easy to find and by waiting until later in the week to go get stuff, the prices are already starting to come down!

My daughter turns 1 on March 8!! We are doing a Minnie Mouse theme party, we rented a hall in town and are getting it catered by an italian bakery in the North End. We also got a three tier cake that looks like Minnie Mouse, a 25 foot banner with Minnie Mouse and Kristy's picture that says, "Happy 1st Birthday Miss Kristy Marie." We are also going to have a DJ's there to play some music and show the DVD we made!! Hopefully it goes well, I have been planning it for awhile now. Oh and her invitations were done by the picture people with Minnie Mouse and Kristy on them, very cute and well worth the money.

We are having a garden party afternoon tea for our friends and family to celebrate on the Sunday before my daughters birthday. Will have the trampoline, mini jumping castle, playmats etc and toys all set up outside in our big garden (1 acre!) and under our big deck and canopies, with lots of fresh, healthy, local produce on the menu (salad sandwhich pinwheels, fruit kebabs, local cheese platters with fruit & vegetable sticks, homemade frozen yoghurts & fruit, etc etc etc)... Weather permitting that is - if not we'll move in doors and out under the deck, or into the American Barn!

i got the idea about the favors from Martha stewart site. I'm wrapping a ribbon around it and then tying a small string around the top of the jar with a little tag (on one side has a stamped on pic of an airplane) and on the other side are the "5 ingrediants to a happy 1 year old " lol... ex... 1 cup of daily laughter, 1 cup of smiles, etc.
we started video taping the day we were going to the hospital... going to show clips of us about to leave for the hospital to 12 months old.. put it to celine dion's lullaby music
