I gave birth on March 16th and still have not started my cycle back. I am breastfeeding but it seems like I would have started by now! Anyone else out there in the same boat?

I haven't gotten mine either. A lot of the time if you are breastfeeding you won't get your period. Also if you are on any birth control that could change or stop your cycle.

I got on the depo shot....
I was 135 before the baby, 182 before I had him.
I was at 145 when I got the shot in butt...
I went up to 160 pounds now and it will not budge even with exercise and sweating. My friend also was on the shot and gained alot of weight from it. I've always had a very good metabolism...so this just messed me all up!

I had my baby March 20th. I have no idea what is going on with my period. at around 3 months I started, it lasted 2 weeks, stopped a week, went on for 2 more weeks, now it stopped. i hope it stays STOPPED until next month b/c i simply do not have the extra cash flow to be buying this many tampons and pads. lol

Hola!! I had my son on Mrch 27th and I am doing both breastfeeding and formula. I havent gotten my period yet, I got an IUD at 8weeks and I have had some spotting here and there but that is due to the IUD. I'm glad you have this discussion up because I too was wondering although my MD said it was because I am breastfeeding.

you shouldn't get it back until you have stoped regular breast feeds you will probably notice a change when you start introducing solids x

I gave birth on March 19th, and I haven't gotten my period back either. I breastfeed, too, but only like once or twice a day. It can take several months for your cycle to return, so don't worry. Lol. I spazzed about it too for a while there. I was like, "Oh, no. Am I pregnant again?!" We just need to relax and enjoy NOT having a period while we can. Lol.

I gave birth on March 23rd and have not gotten it yet, I am also exclusively breastfeeding. With my now 2 year old, I was breastfeeding and didn't get my period until he was about 10 months old, when he was eating a lot of other foods.

I agree...enjoy it! I have three boys. After giving birth to them and going through the 6 weeks of bleeding, I never skipped a beat with my period. I have exclusively breast feed my children, and I still had my period right away. Just like every pregnancy is different, every woman's body is different after each pregnancy. It is possible to not have a period after one pregnancy and have a period after the next.

I know I'm not preggers because when i was on birth control I got two periods a month so now I'm just waiting for the later cycle to come back...yay........

With my 1st I got mine 11 weeks after birth, with the 2nd it took I think 14 weeks, and this time around it's almost 18 weeks... still nothing. I'm praying I get a few more months with out... I don't want one in this hot weather! I'm also only breastfeeding. (with all 3)

I am breastfeeding and haven't had my period yet either. With my first son I didn't start my period until after I stopped nursing. So I didn't have mine for 12 months after I had him. It's completely normal.

I am . My son was born on the 12th of March and mine has yet to return as well. I chalked it up to breastfeding although he breastfeeds and takes formula. I figured I wouldn't worry until I stop breastfeeding all together.

I got a lil worried about mine when it hadn't come back after he was 3 months old... But I read that if you are breastfeeding it can take up till the baby is 6 months old for your cycle to restart and for you to bleed again... Just depends on the woman!

I had my little girl on March 17th and I to are breastfeeding. My cycle hasn't started back either. I have spoken to my GP and they have said you may not get it back until you stop feeding. Hopefully this will be the case!!!

Everyone's body is different. My baby was born March 17th and I bled immediately after my C-Section and that didn't stop for a month! Then I started to bleed every 2 wks and that pattern is still consistent to this day!

[deleted account]

Do your research, I see a lot of posts from people saying you won't get your period if you are breastfeeding, you'll stop producing milk when you get your period, etc....NOT TRUE! I breastfeed exclusively....I'm still producing lots of milk....and I got my period last month (baby born 3/12)....SO take this as EVERYBODY'S body is different!

I haven't gotten mine back yet either and our 2nd was born 3/31. With out 1st, it came back around 4 months after we started weaning when he got his first 2 teeth. It's different for everyone and BF helps, although doesn't work every time. Going on birth control will make it start back up again due to you changing your hormones up again.

Two other things. First, Micronor shouldn't affect your supply because it doesn't have estrogen in it. However, with my oldest it did and we had to start supplementing. If you stop taking it though and get on a regular feeding and/or pumping schedule, and take fenugrek, it will come back somewhat, although not 100%.

Second, BF does NOT inhibit ovulation. If this were the case, then you wouldn't be able to get pregnant again while BF, but we all know this isn't the case or there would be no such thing as Irish twins! BF simply prevents the lining from fully maturing unless fertilization occurs resulting in pregnancy!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! My daughter was born March 10th & I bled after labour until she was about 6wks old & then didn't get my period again until she was almost 15wks old! I am also still breastfeeding & was beginning to wonder why I wasn't getting my period. We are not quite ready yet either for #3!!

When you breastfeed it is normal not to have a period. You may not even have one the entire time you breastfeed. But seriously why the complaints???? I'm thrilled to not have mine!

I'm in the same boat too. I gave birth on March 20th and am breastfeeding and I still haven't gotten my period back either.

[deleted account]

I had my baby March 12. I breastfeed exclusively. I think when she started sleeping through the night about a month ago is when things were starting to come back. I wouldn't pump during the night because I needed my sleep. I do pump during the day and breastfeed too. I got my period on June 20.

you may be one of the lucky ones and NOT have a period while b/f. ((caution: you can still ovaulate and get pregnant)) Me .... my son was born march 30th, 2010. i had my first period june 2nd. then my secong period July 1st ((still on)). I actually went to the ER because i bled so heavy. i was using the ultra tampons and STILL had to change every 45-60 minutes. They could not find anything wrong (thank god)

Good responses, don't be fooled, you can still ovulate and hence, conceive, so if you're not ready for another baby, use bc! I have a friend who dropped ONE nursing and got pregnant............:)

I NEVER menstruated as long as I was breastfeeding, that held true for all 4 of mine. Even if i was down to 1 feeding a day. Some women do, but I sure didn't, enjoy it! It's just the hormones, you might not get it at all while you are bf. I just weaned my son, about 3 weeks ago and still no menses!
