my son 11 1/2 months...is has been having SUCH a hard time falling asleep with the daylight savings time... it's really frustrating.. he always goes down at 630pm..but he's taking forever...and screams bloody murder when i lay him down because his room still has some light in it... i have the blinds down and try to put blankets over the windows but light still leaks through and it makes it so hard for him!

for instance... i laid him down at 6:30pm... it is 7:30pm now and he's still crying and screaming.

anyone else's baby having a hard time falling asleep with the time change??? if so.. what have you done that makes it easier for baby? I really don't want to put him down later because he's SOO tired by that time..and since he takes only one nap a day now he really needs that rest...

My daughter has always loved her sleep but i honestly believe that her bedroom helps, i fitted Blackout blinds in her window then also curtain so there is no light. She goes down at 6pm wakes between 6-7am. she then goes back down about 930ish till 12-1pm i think she sleeps 4 england but she sleeps through the night so cant complain wont adjust routine unless needed. I would just carry on normal give it another couple of days

also... until last week, i was working full time so he had to get up with me at 5am every morning.. he's been getting up that early (and hearing our alarms) for the past 9 months so it's a pretty hard habit to break. sometimes i'm able to get him to go back to sleep for another hour but it's not often. his pediatrician recommended bedtime at 630pm so he can get enough sleep. he's always gone down at that time so it's nothing different

unfortunately, he doesn't nap very long usually... he wakes somewhere between 5 and 6 am... and then goes down for his afternoon nap at 12...he normaly only sleeps about 1 1/2 hours... so he's very cranky the rest of the day because he isn't sleeping very long... by the time 6:30 rolls around he is so exhausted from his short nap that he will pretty much just have melt downs

I would say you need to give him a couple of days to adjust, his body is still thinking it's only 5:30. It's going to take him longer to adjust unless you are also waking him an hour earlier. I know I'm still adjusting to the time change, give him week and if he's still staying up till 7:30 start pulling it back in 10 to 15 minute increments every 3 days till he's back to the 6:30 bedtime. Another thing you should consider since he's only napping once a day how long is that nap, if it's over 2 hours assuming he's sleeping 6:30 to at least 6:30 that's 14 hours of sleep in a day, and 11 to 13 is considered normal so although he may be tired he just might not be ready for bed.

What time does he wake up in the morning and how long of a nap does he take? 6:30 seems really early for him to go down but I guess it depends on yours and his schedule.

My son goes to bed between 8 and 9 and gets up around 7 or 8 but I'm a stay at home mom so he doesn't need to be up at a certain time to go anywhere. He usually takes a 2 hour nap after lunch.
