since my son was 3 months old, i've been working on a photo book for him from picaboo.com. i'm ordering it next week aso it will be her for his birthday party (on march 27, real b-day mar 31). i have a different page for each month, with pictures and a story of what he was doing each month. then on the last pages, i have a guest book for his party guests to write him a message, and a special letter his dad and i wrote to him. this way he'll have something to look back on that is really special and he can keep for his whole life.
we are also getting him a bathing suit, blocks, and an activity table

We went nuts for Christmas so we're going to tone it down a lot when my daughter turns 1 on March 30th. We're going to get her a little baby bracelet with name and date of birth engraved, a couple of in the night garden dvds and maybe a little first bike for her. We have found a few things we know she would love so we've told family members to get them for her as they had no idea what to get.

My daughter will be 1 on March 10. We got her a Laugh and Learn Music table by leapfrog. Really any kind of age approriate deveolpemental toy is great. Remember as they get older that children become frustrated with things they can't figure out or use, so be careful with getting things too advanced.

I had a terrible time trying to figure out something for my son that turned 1 yesterday on Mar 2. When my daughter turned 1 in 2009 I went overboard and bought her way too much, which in turn we still have so my son really has soooo many neat things. In a last minute scramble I just went and bought him a little farm set and and a push behind toy that are easy to store. Gotta love Wal-Mart :).

I have a fairly large extended family and I know my daughter will get a ton of gifts for her birthday, so I decided to not buy her anything, and instead have ordered a memory book for her. It has a bunch of pictures of her with captions and space for writing. I figured everyone could sign it at her birthday party or write a little message to her, and it would be a great keepsake to give her when she is older.

Our son turned 1 yesterday and we got him the wagon so that when we go to the zoo or the park he will have something a little more comfortable than the stroller. It is nice because we can have the seats so that he can sit up or we can lay them down so that he can catch a quick nap. Either way, there is still a place to put his bag and be comfy!

Because my daughter got WAYYYY too many Christmas presents, I have said "no presents please" on the invitation "but a plate to share is appreciated" - this way I can save on catering AND wont run out of room with more STUFF, lol...
The people that want to bring presents will bring them anyway, so she'll get something - but hopefully this will encourage then to bring just a LITTLE something rather than overwhelm us again (first grandchild on both sides and and she has 8 aunties & uncles Plus their partners to spoil her!)
** Oh I should add - I have got her a gorgeous Oobi pop dots rain coat with matching rain hat & umbrella for her present to use for the winter her in Tasmania, Australia - we get a lot of rain! **

lots of good ideas here for my first sons 1st birthday (now3) we got him a 3 in 1 bike which he still uses just with all the extra's off so it is a good buy.my eldest also had goldfish from a young age as also has always loved them they are still alive and he still loves them it's a great idea and not expensive or much hassle to keep either, good for sensory and also learning to look after things etc. However for my son just about to turn 1 (21st march) i don't know what to get as he is getting alot a pass down toys from his older brother, so looking at clothes and something special/personalized to keep, and some money in his savings account for when he will appreciate it - boring yes but i'm sure the rest of the family will be spoiling him so we do not need to, plus they are only going to be one will not remember or sometimes even play with for long, they grow and change so fast no need to spoil them now! hope you all find the perfect gift for your soon to be 1 year olds!

My daughter turns 1 on the 14th, and I got her a magnet for the fridge, that is a farm and u put different animals in it and it makes the animal sounds, and I also got foam mats to put in her room, 4 books, and the best thing I got her, was from Wal Mart, a 3 in 1 bike. Stage 1 you push her, stage to, u guide her as she uses the pedals, and stage 3, she does it all herself - it was 99.99, I figure it was money well spent as she can use it for a few years! :) Also got her a few outfits and books

My daughter turns one on March 26th and I found a Little Tikes 3 in 1 Trike. Since spring is right around the corner I wanted something we could play with outside. And it's also something that she can grow into. I live on a farm so we can go for walks to visit the animals. It's a little pricey but I figure since it's something that can last until she is about 4 it's a good investment.

My son will be one on March 26th. We got him a tricycle for different stages of development from just riding on it to being able to peddle alone. We also got him the B Zany Zoo activity cube. And the B Parum Pum Pum Drum. (both are available at Target and online) Someting else we are thinking of getting him is the Peek-a-blocks Incrediblock which can olny be found at fisher-pricestore.com. These are all things that he will be able to play with for years, stead of just a couple months. We know we are spending alot of money so we want it o be worth it, and its also not toys you see everywhere and hopefully he won't be getting from anyone else! Good luck and I hope he has an awsome first birthday!

We are going to get some useful gear - a travel Chico highchair that clamps on to tables, an umbrella stroller, 18 month clothes, touch&feel books, Baby Einstein movies and some beach gear! We are lucky enough to have a professional photographer in the family so we can put that money away into her college fund.

I am thinking about getting my daughter a water table to be used outside in nice weather for water or sand and inside in the winter as a sensory table (filled with beans, rice, noodles, etc..) I was a teacher and see a need at my house for some more sensory activities. My MIL is getting her a Cozy Coupe Car, and my mom got her some new cloth diapers. I was also looking for an outdoor climber with a small swing. She is cruising and has taken a few steps! I hope this helps!

We will probably get her a doll, since she loves all her teddy bears, but doesnt have any dolls yet! her relatives will all probably get her clothes and pajamas...Im also thinking some little balls to play with are a must, as she loves rolling the ball back and forth to me a ther grandmas! we are also getting proffesional photos done..more for us than for her, and just as a littl ekeepsake from her first birthday we are having a picture frame made so that everyone that is there can sign the black paper in silver ink! first birthdays are more for us than for them anyways :)

My little one turns 1 March 4th and luckily we have wonderful friends and family who will more than likely spoil her with toys and clothes so my husband and I thought we would put money towards getting professional 1 year photos taken...Something we will cherish and she will one day love to look at! We have yet to have her photos taken professionally so we are really looking forward to it! ;) And of course had to get her a swimsuit for the summer, she LOVES the water!!! :)

My son will be one on March 5th. So far I've gotten him a sand and water table, an outside swing, a kiddy pool, books, puzzles, and larger size clothes/shoes/hats. On his birthday we are going to go to the pet store to pick him out a goldfish. He absolutely LOVES fish, he's been saying fish since he was 8 months old and just never tires of them. I'm so excited! Our babies are getting so big!

My son will be 1 on March 12th. We got his older brother a toy lawn mower for his 1st Birthday which he still uses at 5. So I picked up the lil guy his own lawn mower so he can join Daddy & Big Brother this summer mowing the lawn. Now I just need to find a small toy for Big Brother to get him.

My daughter loves her push/walk behind toys and her dollies. So, for her birthday, which is March 30th, we have already bought her a walk behind stroller (for 9-36 months). All the other toy strollers were for 3+. She is also getting a swing for our front porch and money in her college account.

Books are always good. My son LOVES his books that make noise and touchy feely books. I highly recommend USBORNE books. They are fantastic. If you are looking for where to find them or want them delivered to you directly, order them from http://www.myubam.com/ecommerce/main.asp... - that is where I get mine :)
