Hey everyone.

I'm 33 weeks and 3 days pregnant with my first baby, a little girl, and obviously getting so close to the birth, I'm starting to think about what I'd like to happen.

I hate hospitals and pain and to be honest, although I love children and I'm enjoying pregnancy, I think I'm the worst person for it as I freak out about any kind of blood or pain lol. (Wish me luck at the birth haha)

I've decided I'd like to give birth to Mawgan in a birthing pool at the local maternity centre and wondered if anyone here has ever had a water birth? I'd like to know what it's like. I get the impression it's quite relaxing etc. I've also decided to use gas and air and have an injection of pethidine.

Any info on what water births are like would be greatly appreciated. Good luck on all your pregnancies =)

I can't tell you about water births because I've never done it, but I can tell you about birth. They are nothing like what you see on TV or in movies. I didn't see anything of the actual birth of any of my kids. I was too busy concentrating on pushing. None of my kids was very blood at birth either. There or course is blood, but don't look down there and you won't even notice it. My nurses wiped the babies down a little before handing them to me. As far as pain. Of course it's painful, but concentrate on the end result. A litlle pain for that beautiful little baby, not a bad exchange. I did each of my births drug free and intend to do this one that way too. Not saying that's for everyone, and there's nothing wrong with meds to help with pain during birth. However you decide to do it just concentrate on "Soon I'll be holding my little girl." Good luck!
