Hi there.. sorry to be gross, but I have to know if anyone else is experiencing this:

I gave birth to my first baby on 3/13.. the delivery went well but there were some complications delivering my placenta so the doctor had to remove it manually, which hurt terribly. For the last 3 weeks that I've been home I have had pretty big blood clots almost daily. I called the hospital 3 times and I have seen my doctor twice for it, and everyone keeps telling me this is normal. I'm worried that some of the placenta is still in there, causing the clotting but no one seems to think this is anything to be worried about. Any thoughts..?

i only had two blood clots but extremly large ones but my midwife told me its completely normal, that its just left over blood pooling. if you start having a temperature or feeling cold shivers. go straight to your doctor or even the hospital if its in the middle of the night. if you do have some placenta left in there you would start feeling really ill.

I had a natural birth and had a lot of blood clots for a couple of weeks and carried on bleeding for 3 weeks. My mum retained some placenta with one of her pregnancies so it was something i was worried about too. I would say definatly keep an eye on it and if the blood flow doesn't slow down after about 4 weeks then push the doctors about retained placenta. Keep getting it checked out regulary though if your still worried, you know your own body better than any doctor

Hi there, I had a friend who had retained some of her placenta after birth. All her doctors told her they got it all and she was fine but she got a terrible infection a week after the birth. It was then they found she had retained placenta and she went back in for surgery. I dont want to freak you out, but it does happen. I guess if you dont have any signs of infection and theyre saying its normal then it might just be normal.



I had a c-section so its different, but i did have some small clotting for 3-4 days afterwards, but it has all cleared up now.
