Diapers?

Hi! I've been having a hard time with diaper blow-outs. I do not want to try cloth diapering so I need to figure out which disposables are going to deal with this problem the best. I started with Pampers Swaddlers and his bowel movements were coming up the back of them and leaking onto his clothing. Today I decided to try Huggies and now the mess is coming out the sides. My son is 11 lbs, 10 oz, so I think the size one is the correct size in either brand according to the weights listed on the box.. is this just a problem I need to get used to dealing with or is there some other brand I should be using?

My first, born September '07, did the same thing daily, if not numerous times a day. I will say that the solution probably depends mainly on the source of the problem. Like one person said, it could be something you're eating that's causing the blow out. Or, it could be the shape of your son's body. For us, it was the shape of our son's body. He had an extremely large belly, but just under his belly he thinned out. Guess it's hard to describe how that then made the diaper fit, but consequently it meant his poop shot out the back almost every time. Even if there was just a little bit of it. There was always a trail of poop like a line, up and out of the diaper. Ironically, for us, I found that buying cheapo Walgreens diapers did the trick because they were shorter and didn't have to be attached where his belly got bigger. That meant the diaper could be snugger and held the poop in.

So, my advice to you would be to see if there's a clue to the source of the blowouts. That will probably help you solve the problem. :) Good luck!

Luvs work really well. But I have also found that the Target brand Up & Up are the best. I have used them for all of my kids. Unfortunately they don't make them smaller than size one. (I have a preemie and she doesn't even fit into the special diapers).

We have had the most luck with Pampers and Luvs. Huggies were the worst about leaks.

my baby has poop up her back about once a week. That is because she has a dimple above her butt and it shoots up her back. I feel so bad for her all the time! I just deal with it. Some of the time it's because her dipper is full. But it just depends

I use pampers swaddlers and went up a size before the recommended weight as well. my daughter was so tight in the newborn (up to 10 lbs) and she only weighed 8 lbs. 10 oz. I adore swaddlers though, try finding the ones with the leak guard on the back that prevents major leakage. =D

I would buy the next size up, I would reccomend Pampers as used these with all 3 children.

My son is doing the same thing. My daughter did the same when she was a baby. We just dealt with it. Did a lot of laundry. If your baby is breast fed, it may be something you are eating that is causing the blow out.
