Oh, our theme came from Party City, it's called "Onederful to be One" it has a lot of bright blues, greens, reds, & yellows. We ordered a moonwalk for the older kids who will be there so they can be occupied lol. We are also having a big frog pinata.

My son will be 1 on the 10th, I still keep tearing up when I think about it lol. We are having a big party for him, he's our 1st & it took us 8yrs to have him so I think it's ok to splurge lol.

Being that our little one is our second, I'm speaking from experience. There is nothing wrong with having a theme... just don't go overboard. They won't remember it anyway, and the party is more for you and your husband/partner. Instead of going overboard spending all sorts of money on a big party and theme, have a small family gathering with lunch and a cake and save the money for a nice bottle of wine (provided you drink it) or your favorite drink/food and have that on your little one's birthday after they are in bed as a celebration of where you were on that day a year earlier!

My son turns 1 on the 25th, he will actually get 2 parties. We will be in TX on vacay visiting family, so my cousin is planning a party. Not sure what that one is, she is keeping it a secret. But the party I am planning will be on April 1, it is a 1st Bday theme. Since he is a preemie I plan to have a slide show of this past year for people to watch, I am going to set out his tiny micro preemie clothes and the things that came home from the NICU with him. My husband says I am going to far, I just want to show people how he started and the great progress that he has made.

Depending on what your budget is you can rent a community center, or a banquet hall at a hotel…or you can have it at a family members house.

We are more then likely going to rent out a banquet hall for our sons 1st b-day

And I think when throwing YOUR Childs birthday party you should do what EVER you want…if it’s a small affair or a extravagant one

I was told to stick to the basics. No need to go all out with themes. They aren't going to remeber nor care. I plan to buy a cupcake cake and have my family over. I don't want to scare him with tons of people and noises.

My little girl was born on the 31st. You are right Sjoukje, it was very hot last year! I am hoping it is warm this year so I can have her birthday at my house. Otherwise I think it will be too cramped to have everyone indoors.
Where is everyone having their parties? I think Chukee Cheese would be too advanced for a 1 year old birthday party so where else is there to have one?

We're doing a farm animals party theme for my son on the 12th of March, as his birthday falls on the 15th, which is a tuesday. Having pony rides and I'm trying to organise a mobile petting zoo for the day :-)

We will be doing my daughter's birthday on her due date (March 13th) She was born on March 19th (she shares a birthday with her Dad). My mom is going to make a teddy bear cake for my daughter with teal and salmon pink frosting. We are also going to have a cake for my husband-which he has no idea about and I hope we can keep it from him. We live about 300 miles away from all of our family, so we are traveling back "home" for the party and inviting family and friends from that area.
For my son's 1st birthday we had a jungle animal theme.
Angela- we did a Thomas themed party for his 2nd birthday and we found these rubber bathtub Thomas toys at put them on the cake. We frosted the cake green and had a frosting train track going across it as well. He loved it! Then you get to use the little trains as toys afterwords.

My girl will be 1 yrs old on the 31st of march.
We are super excited. We are planning to have "spring" themed birthday. We are having a cake that looks like a sun (which i will make on my own)
Last year when she was born we had great weather (is was HOT!) so we are hoping that it'll be nice weather as well and are planning to have the party in our backyard, and to keep all the children entertained we are planning on having an obstical course (homemade) in the backyard. And we are planning on getting our daughter a swing set.

Unless they are a close source and they have proof…maybe you shouldn’t listen to them

Someone told me its bad luck to have their parties before their birthday, so I changed the date even though I feel a bit weird her party won't be in the same month she was born. She was born March 30th and her party will be April 2nd.
We're going to go with a Disney princesses theme and I'm going to start buying little things each week so I don't get overwhelmed when it's party time.

my son was born march 30. i can NOT believe it is coming so fast ! :( i'm super excited about the party planning though it is quite hard for \me to handle the thought of it so soon!
my husband and i are considering airplane theme (we did this for his baby showers and it's the theme of his nursery) or jungle animals or dinosaurs. I personally want the airplanes..jsut have to convince my husband lol

we took home videos ever since the day I was leaving to go to the hospital to give birth ... i'm making them into a movie with music and pics and making that into a dvd to give to grandparents (and mail to his great grandparents) at his birthday. we planted a tree in our backyard that my parents bought for our son when he was born. we'll be taking a pic of him in front of it every year. also blowing up prints of him from each of his milestones in black and white and putting them next to each other at his party for people to see his growth.
for favors, I have saved all his glass babyfood jars and am putting candles in them. to decorate the jars, I am wrapping a gingham ribbon around each with a small bow and putting a cutout cute paper with his name and birthdate and a picture of (whatever the theme is)

we also are placing a small scrapbook/albumn of our son's first year of life and keeping several pages open with pens and notecards for the guests to write little memories or letters to our son that he can cherish later
