My son was born March 26, he says mum, mumma, mummy, dada, grama and numy when he eats along with mmmm, he waves hi and bye and knows exactly what hes doing! He scares me, he's going to be smarter than me!

My daughter babbled mumma mumma mumma when she was 2 mths. But it was a babble not a word. I think it has to have meaning with intention to the child to be a word.

My daughter was born on the 16th and she says momma (when she is hungry or tired) or bubba when she is playing. Her dad wants her to say daddy so bad!! she started saying those two words in mid july.

my little girl has been trying to talk for months, but i wasn't just hearing things when she said "dada" last week. she says something like "mama" when she wakes in her crib in the middle of the night and wants to nurse. sometimes i swear she says 'hungry', but no one else hears it. lol

Hi :)
My little boy was born on 11th March.
He says 'momom' ALL the time!
He shouts 'dadad' when his daddy is in view or when his daddy is not paying him any attention!

I have been thinking my son has been saying "Yeah" and "Mama" for a while now but people kept thinking I was nuts. Until yesterday! He said "Yeah" a few times (my mom heard it so hopefully we aren't both crazy lol). He has only linked it once when I asked if his food was good he said "Yeah" but I don't think he actually knows what he's saying. Congratulations! I can't wait until he actually says my name :)

Rachel: It's a harsh world. I would love to see the video, but seeing is believing. And I would HIGHLY doubt it's jealousy. It's just known that it's babbling. Cute that they can make it sound like it & you really wanna believe that's what they said, but its not. My boy constantly makes noises that sound like mum or dadda.. and he does the whole reaching thing as well. Im quite okay with bursting bubbles.

My son was born march 27th...he says consonant's and Vowels...and when put together they sound much like words....
I am teaching him baby sign language, and right now he responds when I say the word eat (while opening and closing my fist) he will either sound like he’s hyperventilating or open and close his mouth or both…very cute :-)
He also knows to look at my husband when I say, “where’s dad” and as soon as his eyes land on him I say in that good ole’ mommy voice “There’s dad, there he is”
I will add that my oldest son who is now 7 said clear as day at the age of 6mos ball and never spoke clear like that until he was 1-1 ½ years old…very odd I know..

My son, born on the 27th, has said mom and momma since 2 months. He says it everyday and smiles when i respond to him saying it. I try to repeat mom or momma to him and he loves it. God only knows if he knows my name is mom or if he just likes that i look at him when he makes that noise.

Jessie: dont be worried... Im not too sure about this "baby talk" :P It's called babbling. However, the baby sign language I can probably agree with. My niece was doing baby sign language, gotta admit... it was very cool & helpful!

http://www.babies-and-sign-language.com/...

By around 14 to 20 months of age, a child will usually speak actual words. They begin with simple words that they have heard often, such as “mama” or “dada.” These words eventually turn into two-word phrases, which is the next step on the journey of speech. Two-word phrases such as “come baby” or “doggie gone” begin around the age of 2 years. By this point, a baby should have around 50 words in her vocabulary. When a child can link two words together, it shows an understanding of both words and content. Object and action words are understood and expressed. Language socialization research provides important insight into young children’s linguistic and cultural development and helps us understand the relationships between the cultural context and the use of language with and around children (King and Park, 2003).

Wow. Never heard of babies talking so soon. I have 16 nieces & nephews and have to admit my nephew was saying words by 9 months ish... but was saying complete sentences by 1 1/2. He's 15 now & BRILLIANT. I think it's all on how you work with the child (which we were speaking to him as if he were an adult) I hear Ethan going muuum muuuuuuuum when he's eating. But Im thinking it's because he's lovin what he's chowin on. Otherwise he coos. Maybe in a week he'll say daddy.

My son says (or babbles) words out and they sound like words, go far he has "good" "wiggle wiggle" but I would not say he's talking yet, he can't link them to anything. EXCEPT "mmm...mmm" when he eats.. too bad that wasn't a word... lol. Girls usually are more vocal and develop verbal skills before boys (and we never lose it:) ..GRATS MOMMIE :)
