I saw mine at 9 weeks. If you are pregnant with twins they should be able to pick it up in an ultra sound. I believe fraternal twins would be from the mother's side, if it is going to come from anyone. Men put out hundreds of little swimmers, women normally only release 1 egg.

Hi my twins where found at my 6 week scan but one twins heart beat wasnt detected at that time apparently it can take a few weeks to show had a scan again at 9 weeks and both where doing great this is my second set of fraternal twins my brother was a fraternal twin and my mum miss carried one at four months but that is the only family history of twins that we have The doctor said i was unique to be having a second set of fraternal twins both naturally conceived i put it down to being fertile and ovulating two eggs at once best of luck..cheers Chelle

Twins can "run" on either side (your mom or dad), but you aren't genetically more likely to have twins if your husband has twins on his side of the family. It is usually caused by the woman releasing more than one egg. You dh has no control on that (although, I suppose you could argue his sperm has to impregnate those eggs). ;) Your family genetics, however, can. My family does in fact I am a twin and we are expecting twins again. Identical twins are not subject to this and are random, however, there are some arguements that it could be the sperm that causes it.... Just food for thought. lol

This comes from a woman who is a twin, has had twins (lost them when i was 7 weeks) n has many twin relatives. Dunnow bout it being the father's "fault" Twins run in my family bc of the women. We are very fertile and produce more than one egg at a time. We are a fraternal twins. It is very hard to tell that early..one may b behind the other plus if u have a vaginal ultrasound it is much harder to get a good veiw so my guess would be no. I've also heard twins skip a generation and I am living proof that that is incorrect.
