Kennadie will be 6 months tomorrow (the 25th) She has been sitting up for about three weeks now and crawling since september 3rd. She's still very tiny though (13 pounds 2 ounces)

My daughter turned 6 months on 6th Sept and she does not sit up on her own as well. She crawls (soldier style) all over, since the last 2 days she is trying to crawl on her knees and hands. Afai, kids start to sit on their own when they actually use their knees and hands to crawl. coz in that position its pretty easy for them to sit up.

My little girls is 6th months this month, she has only rolled over once. She doesnt sit up either. Babies develop in their own time. I would not stress, all my 4 girls have developed in thier own time, some did not crawl till 13 months

Bennett will stay sitting, for the most part. He isn't getting into the seated position on his own, though. He was born 3/21/10.

My lil girl Kayelynn born March 23, 2010 she not yet sitting up if i put her in that position she will for a sec with the help her arms but always goes to the side or forward lol. She wants to crawl she has some strong legs but her upper body half just won't move so she pushes her legs and her top half wont move so she like scoots on her head lol for movement or will just roll over from back to belly back to back and back to belly to get any where. She enjoys tummy time with her toys. She just hates being on her back. She even sleeps on her stomack which scares me because of the whole SIDS but not much i can actually do because i move her to her back she so stubburn she right back to sleepin on her belly in minutes.

My baby can sit really well if I sit her.. but she can't really sit up by herself yet. She has done it once.. kinda. She was on her back and then she kinda leaned a little to the side (reaching for a toy) and then pushing up with the arm on that side, but she hasn't done it again since. I think it was an "accident" lol.

I thought the same thing about my son Brody at six months but he just started sitting up like one week after his six month birthday, it is weird how they just start doing things sometimes, when he gets tired he will just fall over

Nope, not sitting yet. he will be 6 months in two weeks. Can sit for a short stint if I sit him there, but will then tip over and roll to his belly.

Gav has also turned 6 months on the 4th and is sitting up. At first he would cry because he couldnt figure out how to get back on his belly.He is not crawling though, he just drags him self across the floor.

My son was also 6 months on the 4 of Sept, and he is doing the same things. He army crawls and can sit if I put him there, but he doesn't do it himself. He looks like he may be trying, but to no avail. My other 2 boys didn't sit up until about 7 months.

My little one is 6 months today and has been sitting up for about a month now. She is also crawling and just starting to try to pull up to things. She is a busy girl and has 2 older brothers that she is trying to keep up with. As a public health nurse I know that she is doing things very early....I would not be concerned if your child isn't yet sitting up.

My little man was 6 months on the third of september. he only sits up if hes sitting in the corners of his little couch. He still needs help. He tries to sit up by himself but just looks like he's doing stomach crunches! But he only started rolling over 2-3 weeks ago.

my daughter turned 6 months on sept 6th. if shes lying down she cant pull herself up. but if i sit her up she will hols herself steady. and she moves around like crazy in her walker!

My son goes 'splat' when I sit him up! He doesn't roll over either direction either. None of my kids did at 6 mths. Must run in the family! All kids do things their own way!

My daughter was 6 months on 9th September, she is sitting up and playing but only when I put her sitting up! She can told the position for ages. she trys to pull herself up but isn't quite there!

Anyone have any ideas how to encourage her to do it herself??

My son (born on March 8th) is already crawling, pulling himself to standing and walking along furniture. He is crazy!!

My little one will be 6 months tomorrow and she is sitting up with assistance. She can sit in the sitting position by herself for about a minute if I put her in that position, and then she starts toppling over to one side. She can roll over on to her stomach and back easily, she has mastered that already. She can pull herself around on the floor with her arms, kinda like a little army person :) She can get up on all fours easily but doesn't go anywhere yet, just does the little rocking back and forth. I give her another couple of weeks and she will be all over our apartment. :)

My son is six months also, he can't sit up by his self yet he has to have somthing behind him. His doctor said that's it's nothing to worry about, that all babies have there diff time of doing things. Hope this helps.

My little guy turned 6 months on the 7th and only now is starting to sit unsupported for a few seconds. He is no way near getting himself up to sitting by himself yet, but it will all happen when he is ready.

Ariya (3.12.2010) will sit up if propped into that position but still tips over if she leans too far in any direction... She just mastered the full roll over on purpose & has her 1st tooth popping up now!

do you have a Bumbo chair? Ariya has learned a lot of balance & head control from sitting in one each day... Super handy to have if you have people that wach your kiddo over night - less to pack around since the Bumbo doubles as a high chair, a in the bath tub & a safe place to put the baby down! :) Good luck!

One thing that I think helped was the bumbo, she loved that thing and we used it quite a bit! But remember...babies do things at different rates and all babies are different!!

Yes! My baby girl will be 6 months on the 25th and has been sitting up for 3 weeks now! She can roll into the position outta nowhere!! We had to lower her crib because she pulling up on everything, loves to stand since she was 2 months old and started crawling yesterday!! She also has 2 teeth on the bottom, she's growing up too fast!!

my daughter completes 6 mths on 16th sept and she does not yet sit up. she does a kind of army crawl, rolls over both ways perfectly fine. shes not attempted to get into a sitting position on her own yet, though when i prop her up, she sits fine. but if i make her sit without props she will keel over in a few secs. there is a very wide timeline for babies to master sitting up

Babies can't usually get themselves into a sitting position on their own for quite a few more months. If your daughter can stay in a sitting position when you put her there I think most people would consider that sitting up. I think getting themselves into a sitting position occurs around the same time they figure out how to crawl. For my first child she sat at 6 months and crawled and got herself into a sitting position between 8 and 9 months. My son has been sitting since 5 months and he wants to crawl really really bad, but he's not there yet!

My son sits up pretty well when I put him in a sitting position. His balance is getting better and better as time goes on. He loves to sit up and grab at everything in his reach.

My son turned 6 months on the 8th and doesn't sit up yet either...He will if I prop him up on the couch or sit him between my legs on the floor, but that's about it...He is more content to roll around on the floor lol...All babies are different so I wouldn't worry=)

my daughter turned 6 months on the 2nd of september.. from a laying down position she does not sit up on her own yet either but if i just set her down she is good. she gets herself into situations now though were she leans foward reaching for a toy she gets stuck with one leg infront of her and the other one behind:) i think it perfectly normal she still has time

My baby girl is 6 months today and she sits up for a litttle bit but then falls over. Everybaby is different and your baby will sit up on her own time. Some babies have teeth and mine doesn't, but I'm not worried. Same with my baby girl she only sits if I put her there!

My son can sit up for a few seconds on his own. Until he leans backwards, and then it's over :) If I spread his legs and lean him forward, then he stays a bit longer. He's more into crawling backwards right now! Ha! :)

My daughter will be 6 months on the 15th. She's been sitting with assistance for a month or so, but this week she decided she could do it on her own. She doesn't get herself to that position on her own yet, but can stay there on her own when put in that position. She has been lifting her chest and stomach off of the floor, but doesn't quite know what to do with it yet. It sounds like your little one is right around the same milestones as mine. Don't worry, she'll be sitting up on her own in no time. Do you practice with her often? Put her between your legs so she doesn't fall over onto the ground or try a bumbo chair, it is structured so they stay in a sitting position.

My daughter is 6 months old and has been sitting since 4 months which is early. She has also started crawling and she has been rolling and turning herself for a while now. Maybe it's cause she's trying to keep up with her brother but man she's doing a lot more than he did at her age.

My little boy will be 6 months on the 23rd. He doesn't sit up, crawl or even roll over. He's my 6th child so I know this is normal too. I can put him on the floor and know where he'll be..lol. But this time next month I'm sure he'll have started to do all these things.

my daughter is 5 1/2 months and last week started sitting up on her own and is really good at it now. She still has yet to crawl though. It is hard becuase every baby is different and grows at their own pace. She should start sitting up when she is ready. Have you tried setting a favorite objectiv in front of her while she is in your arms to see if she will sit up to reach for it? that is when we noticed ours was ready to sit up.

My son owen (2-26-10) is sitting up sort of. lol. If I put him in the sitting position he leans forwards but sit, unless he leans to far forward and kinda tips over. I use his Bumbo to help (which it does) or my boppy. He'd much rather be on his tummy trying to pull him self or flop around to get to his toys but rolls over very well.

Every baby is different. my son turned 6mo this past saturday, and has been sitting up on his own since he was a wk before he turned 5mo. and he started crawling all over the place at 5mo and 1 wk, and then just 10days ago, has started pulling himself up onto my furniture and standing on his own. but every baby is different.
