How much does your baby eat/drink??

My son has been on solids from 4.5 months and is now having 3 per day. What I am curious about is how much milk he should be having. I breastfed him until last week ( he now has two teeth and he was biting me all the time and I am quite fond of having nipples!). He is now on bottles but he doesn't seem to be taking that much, about 120 - 160mls, which is about half what the tin says he should be having. I think that he will only have as much as he needs, and as he is getting used to having the bottle full time he is taking a little bit more, but I don't know if I should be worried. He is happy and the same as always, plus I can't make him drink more if he doesn't want to. We have our 6 month check next week so will ask then but I was just wondering what everyone else has. Thanks

Thanks Jessica, Will is having 4 bottles a day now and 3 solid meals. I'm a first time mum and it is all a bit confusing!

We have just started solids this week. He's nursing still as well, about 5-6 times a day. Our little one is only in about the 40th %ile for weight, but doc says he looks and acts and is healthy. And I know with our oldest, once he started eating solids, he cut way back on bottles, only eating one before bed and maybe one or two more during the day.

He is going alot better on the bottles now, I am now using the teat with 3 holes instead of 2 and he seems to be taking more now, I think he was getting fustrated before. Also I make my own baby food so he might be getting more than what a jar has in, im not sure but he seems happy so I have chilled out about it. He is in the 95th %tiles so he must be getting what he needs.

my son is 6mths and has 3 solids a day also he has cut back on his breast feeding since starting the 3rd meal but as long as he is putting on weight my heath nurse is happy and he seems happy too i wouldn't worry unless he stops gaining weight also i think the tins are written for babies having fewer solid meals :) (my son keeps biting me too he's about to be kicked off to bottles too)

my baby eats about 1/4 cup of rice cereal in the morning (sometimes mixed with fruit, sometimes plain), and 1/2 to 1 jar of stage 1 baby food for dinner. he will also have about 5 bottles a day and depending on how hungry he is he'll drink between 3-7oz. He usually drinks between 25-30oz a day

My lil man eats (what I offer him anyway - most ends up on the floor) I try to let him make a mess and have a go at drinking out of a cup too (very messy lol but heaps of fun! :): Morning 1x w/meal toast and baby porridge/weetbix

Midday: Yoghurt

Evening: Veges and lean minced meat/tuna

+ I always offer finger foods - cheese, apple, w/meal bread, melon, carrot ect.

Milkwise he still has 4x270ml bottles.

My son eating is sporadic. He'll have 3 tbsp total of cereal & fruit in the morning and will only eat a couple ounces with it. Then a 7 ounce bottle later. Then for supper 4 ounces of food (veggies and such) with only a couple ounces of milk. Then later another 7 ounce bottle and then 6 ounces or so before bed. So he's only getting between 19 and 25 ounces of milk a day and 7 tbsp of food. That's all he'll take. And usually I have to remind him every 4 hours or so to eat. When he sees the bottle he remembers he's hungry, lol. I'm going to talk to my doctor about it next week. I want to make sure he's getting everything he needs.

My daughter will have 4-5 7oz bottles a day and 1 stage 2 jar of food mixed with cereal a day. That is all she will eat.

Wet and dirty nappies are not a problem... haha.. lucky me! Of course after I posted this he drank all of his last two bottles ( 7oz ) no problems, typical! He will be having about 30 oz a day aswell as 'real' food. Thanks for the advice, I'm still getting used to the bottles myself, if he didn't keep biting me I would have continued breastfeeding and I wouldn't be worring about how much he was getting, I think because I can see exactly how much he has had now it just makes you wonder.

Anywhere between 18-40 ounces is fine since he is having 3 meals a day. Some babies like to have some milk either before or after the solids. If he is having a good amount of wet/dirty diapers and is happy you really shouldn't worry as much. Baby will always find a way to tell us they need something :) hope this helps.
