My baby is 8 months old, and enjoys sleeping, at a strecth she sleeps for 4-5hrs, not sure if that is a good sign cause i ahve heard children play and learn during the day..so just worried

my daughter sleeps 11 - 12 hrs a night straight through & usually does an hour nap in the morning & one in the afternoon, there are times were she takes longer naps like if she doesnt take a morning one

i worked at a daycare for 4 years in the infant room.. i typically saw babies at this age take a 2 hr morning nap and a 1 1/2 hr afternoon nap... 3- 4 hours total...
my son is 8 and a half months... he typically sleeps 1 1//2- 2 hours in the morning and about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs in the afternoon ... he has been sleeping more lately but he is walking now.. so he gets pretty tired quickly!

it depends on how much your baby sleeps at night..? my girl will sleep 11-12 hours at night and have a couple of 1 hour naps during the day. if your baby doesnt sleep well at night then that could be why she has bigger naps during the day, theres no normality when it comes to babies no two babies are the same, so try not to worry.

Sounds like a lot of sleep to me. None of my kids slept that much. My 8 month old now sleeps about 11 hours at night (with one waking to eat), then takes a morning nap for about an hour and an afternoon nap from 2-3 hours. However if he doesn't get a morning nap in because there's a lot going on then he'll take a 3-4 hour nap in the afternoon. If you're concerned call her docs office and ask them about it.
