I had to stay in hospital for 2 days for them to monitor me and the baby. My bloods and urine were all normal, but I had high blood pressure and a pulse rate. They gave me 2 tablets to take and sent me home. I later found out the tablets have a long list of possible side effects for both me and the baby, but I have no choice but to take the tablets until I give birth.Has anything similar have happened to anyone else?

Hi there, I was kept in hospital for one night to monitor my baby and i too. I had protein in my urine and I was given Nifedapine, to bring my Blood pressure down then told to rest as I would be induced the next day. I woke during the night with an intense pain in my chest and was told was due to high BP. Kept monitoring my baby and i and broke my waters at 8am then hooked me up to oxytoson and I started contracting straight away, after 4hours i was examined and was only 2cms then examined after another 4hours and was only 5cm and my baby went into Distress so Dr decided to Csection me and my son was born on March 4th at 8.10pm weighed 7lb 13oz.
Good luck and I hope your baby comes soon! Im sure the medication they gave you is safe as they wouldnt of given it to you if they thought it would hurt you or your baby!
Keep your chin up you'll be fine and holding your precious bundle very soon :)

Hi there i managed to have my son on the 22nd his due date so yay for not being induced this time was so much better 2 and 1/2 hour labour start to finish. With my first whin i was induced my body was not ready so it took 24 hours with cervidex (sp) to get me to 3 cm but the contractions i had in that time were extramly mild so was not bad then they broke my water hooked me up to oxytoson (sp) and was 4 hour from then she was born but only with contractons for two of them so was also quite fast really but i have to say i much prefered starting myself. Im also in New Zealand where as my sister who has had the same touble with all three of her kids is in canada and was never induced for it so i think it realy depends where you are and your doctor. Good luck. Oh ya and he came out 8 pound 8 so it realy never held his growth at all and if it did thank god lol.

Thank you for your reply, I thought I was the only one. Mine was at 37 weeks as well. They didn't mention anything about inducing if he does not come out naturally. I hope yours will come out naturally. How long did it take you to deliver your first baby after you were induced? Good Luck!

Hi yes i had this with both my pregnancys now same as you just the hight bp nothing else and they are medicating both had started at 37 weeks and as far as i am aware the only thing the pills im on do is hold growth down my dd was born at 6pound 13 have very healthy and this one is due anyday. they are causes here and dont let you go over your due date so im to be induced on monday if he does not come befor witch im hoping he does as i was induced with dd and want to do it on my own we will see what he comes out at the scan i had last week said he was at 8 pounds so well see.
